I'm a side sleeper .. which mask do you recommend me? thanks
my CPAP is a Respironics + C-Flex, Comfort mask which wheezes (and wakes up my wife) when I lay my cheek on the pillow
I've been reading some Posts and I guess one of these models would be a good fit (5'6", weight 150 lbs, and I do a lot of aerobic exercise)
-ResMed Activa
-Mirage Activa
-UltraMirageII
-Breeze
-Swift
-any other mask?
Thanks for your time !!

I use and like the Breeze very much. I nearly always side sleep, and consistantly get zero leaks on the daily report from the machine. One caution though...if you want to sleep on your back, this mask is not the most comfy, due to the rigid pad that sits at the back of your skull. With a soft pillow, I don't really notice it on the rare times I sleep on my back (it is curved and shaped to the back of your skull), but it IS there. If you side sleep exclusively, this won't be a problem.
Good luck!
Good luck!

My vote for the most comfortable mask in any sleeping position is Aeiomed's "Headrest" (formerly called the "Aura".) It also has the neatest exhaust...won't blow the exhaust air at your bed partner at all. Side sleepers can put the side of their face flat on the pillow with the "Headrest"/"Aura"...nice, cushy nasal pillows that don't get shoved aside by the head pillow, or dig into the nostril area.
If you can't get that one, then Bookbear's suggestion about the Breeze is a good one for people who sleep only on their sides. I used a Breeze for over a year and liked it.
The ComfortLite2 is also very, very good, imho. It comes with several sizes of not just one, but two types of nasal thingy -- nasal pillows and... for the second choice I'd get the "simple cushion" for it. You might have to put a homemade strap of some kind across the simple cushion to keep it sealing well throughout the night, but it's a nice change of pace.
Another good one -- a nasal mask that's pretty leakproof for me, and was quite comfortable, is Puritan Bennett's DreamFit (not the Dreamseal for the Breeze.)

Noticed the recommendation for the Mirage Swift.
I've found it to be comfortable, but it's not silent and it also exhausts very well out the front right under the nose. When side sleeping and facing my spouse, they'd get a face full of air.
Currently I'm looking at switching to the Aeiomed HeadRest Nasal interface (also called the Aura) on Rested Gal's recommendation. Apparently it vents straight up at about the eyebrow level and shouldn't blow on anything.
I'll be purchasing one soon so I'll let you know how it goes, but you may want to look into this one as well.
Breeze is also highly rated for "side sleepers".

My DME first gave me an Ultra Mirage II with the shallow mask and it was too small ( the cushion ) so I insisted on the ResMed Activa which is a very good mask and works well for me.
However, it feels somewhat like playing the computer game Half Life and one of those head crabs has jumped on your face, because it is so large.
Recently I ordered a standard cushion for the Ultra Mirage II and I have been using that mask for the last few nights.
It is much much smaller than the Activa but seems to require tighter straps and I feel more pressure on my nose and upper lip ( but nothing serious ).
I seem to be getting a few more hypops than with the Activa though and possibly more leaks, although nothing of major significance.
One of the sleep therapists at the lab has my data card right now. I just got the software for my ResMed S8 Elite and when I get the card back I will be able to run my own studies and check the data from the machine when I use each type of mask to get more accurate results than just an impression while sleeping.
But, to answer your question, either the Activa or Ultra Mirage II should work well. I sleep on my side pretty much exclusively.
One thing that may help .. get a Tempurpedic Comfort Pillow. We ordered one of those mattresses Saturday and got the nice soft Comfort pillow in the deal and I love that thing.

I vote for the Breeze.
It works for moi, but then I have no experience with the others.

Another vote for the Aura Headrest. It's the best for side sleepers who don't want to "blow" their partners out of bed.
