Hello, everyone: I thanks everyone for the help you have given me. I had my first follow up today at my sleep doctor. I gave him the chip from the machine and basically it really very well that my AHI's were 1.0 and sometimes below averaging, sometimes bigger leaks that we would have wanted to see, but I cough a lot at night from GERD, and he said that coughing could have caused that.
I appreciate Pugsy and Chunky Frog and the Latinist for insisting that I switch machines from the Escape that I was given to the RES Med S9. My nurse told me that there is an investigation still going on about that why I received the Escape. I never ever would have known to get that switched if it weren't for the wonderful people on this site.
I have had my share of different masks though. I started with the nasal WISP mask and loved it. No leaks at all, I found it virtually impossible. However after 3 weeks of using it I was left with red permanent marks, callous kind of thing on my nose and had to stop any kind of nasal masks. I tried Swift FX pillows and although not bad, I find that by lying on my side, it is easy for those to shift off my nose. I tried the Airfit P10, and so far so good because it has a harder "shell" on the outside - no marks yet. I am now going to try the new Pilairo Q tonight. The problem is "one size fits all" and no smalls or larges in this package. The bottom of it comes down and covers my upper lip no matter how much I adjust the straps. These were not paid by insurance and out of pocket. This was my summer vacation! But well worth it. Does anyone have the Pilairo as well and find that it covers their lip?
Thank you for your persistence with me and I hope to help other newbies as well on this site with the experiences that I have had. Thank you again.

to avoid confusion, try to use the right terminology.Luthie2006 wrote: I switch machines from the Escape that I was given to the RES Med S9. My nurse told me that there is an investigation still going on about that why I received the Escape.
your initial machine was a resmed S9 escape.
apparently your new machine is a resmed s9 autoset.
*all* current resmed machines, including your escape, are 's9' versions,
there are 13 basic models of 'resmed s9' machines.

Thanks Palerider: I will remember to use the right terminology on machines so I can graduate out of the "newbie" era for myself.

Re: My First Sleep Doctor Follow Up
An out of the box suggestion for a minimal mask is Nasal Aire II Prong CPAP Mask with Headgear. I have used one for several years in the past. The down side is that it can irritate the nasal mucosa where the prongs are snug against inside of the nose. The style has been around since I started CPAP 12 years ago. They are not for everyone but its just a thought.
