don't check my reports
I'll admit it. This is hard and I feel the shame. I don't even know how to get my data. I know I'm getting a good night sleep and I'm happy with my new machine and my new nasal pillow. Do I have to download all the details to tell me how well I'm sleeping? Do I really need to monitor every leak? I'm lazy and computer illiterate. I just want to turn my machine on and go to sleep. I don't even do that because the machine turns itself on once I start breathing in the mask. Am I negligent? I did have some trouble with leaks because my Airfit was doubling up in my nostril and the darn thing ripped and was fixed and ripped again so I bought a new one. I'm happy now and sleep through the night. I actually like my machine now. Why does everyone else check every leak? Really, should I have to do that? Who here doesn't?

Re: don't check my reports
If your doing good, 1st, thats awesome.. You dont need to look at anything unless your trying to understand what is happening or change some things... so, keep doing what works and dont think twice about it...

How about just checking your AHI on your machine's LCD screen when you wake up?

Congrats on your treatment, no you don't have to do anything but continue. Some of us here want to steer our cars, but it's ok to sit blissfully in the back seat letting the help drive the limo.
After the last two elections and the way the world is going, it seems to be the new standard of life. Hope your treatment keeps working well for you. Jim

Re: don't check my reports
If you have no reason to think your treatment isn't working as it should, I wouldn't worry about the data too much. You can get a general idea from your machine window, it just won't be very helpful if there's a problem that's not obvious. I do know watching my leak data clued me in early on I was mouth breathing, and later that I had a small hole in my hose down near the end by the machine where I wasn't likely to feel it. Don't overwhelm yourself if you don't need to. If you do at some point have reason to suspect something is not as it should be, you can get step by step help here. In the meantime, don't feel any shame. Feel lucky to be getting a good night's sleep and just enjoy.

Re: don't check my reports
For my first 4 years, I rarely viewed the data from the card (I was working);
but I have written down the daily summary data in a notebook every day since I learned how (about 4 months in)
Once in a while, I look at trends; --worsening leak numbers tell me I might need to replace my cushion/pillows.
This spring, I ran my data through sleepyhead just to thrill and awe my pulmonary doctor.

You are doing fine and are lucky. We hope that you continue to be fine and not need to learn about changes to be made.naturalisbest wrote:I'll admit it. This is hard and I feel the shame. But you can also keep some info (tucked away in a file or folder) just in case...
People have found this useful (and one does not need to be a computer wizzard) :
(borrowed from a post by robysue - Thanks)
If you have a Resmed S9 Elite or AutoSet, the machine records full efficacy data and you can use either SleepyHead or ResScan to read that data. Both programs are available for free:
For SleepyHead, go to http://sourceforge.net/projects/sleepyhead/ for the download.
For ResScan, you need to go to the forum Apnea Board forum ' http://www.apneaboard.com/forums/ '. When you register over there, you can find a download link in the "members only section." If you have trouble finding the link, post over there and one of the members will tell you exactly where it is.
ResScan is the official software for the Resmed machines. SleepyHead is written by one of the forum members here. It is still considered "beta-test" software, but it's pretty stable for beta-ware. SleepyHead is a bit easier to use since it was designed by a patient for patient use. ResScan will show you the data in exactly the same format as the DME and/or sleep doctor will look at it.
BIG NOTE: If you have an S9 Escape, the only data recorded by the machine is compliance data---i.e. how many hours you use the machine each night. SleepyHead will NOT download this limited data, but it will tell you that you've got a brick, meaning a "only compliance data" machine. If you have an S9 Escape Auto, SleepyHead will not be able to download the very limited summary efficacy data recorded by this machine; but ResScan will be able to download that limited summary efficacy data and show it to you.

I'd point out the error in your thinking, but I've seen the futility in that or maybe, I'm just lazy.Goofproof wrote:Wrong, lazy people quit, not making the effort. Smart people figure out easyier ways to do the job. Jim

Natural - if it seems to be working and the symptoms have abated, then I think you are doing exactly the right thing for you! Way to go!!

Sometimes what is called laziness is actually working smart; as opposed to working hard.
