Got my Bipap a few days ago.
I finally got my Bipap on Tuesday. I made sure it had zero machine use hours and visually checked the settings and made sure it was not locked.
It was set at 16/11 with ps 2 -5 and biflex of 2 with the first week on room air. The first night was rough. It wanted me to breath faster than I normally do. As I would inhale the pressure would suddenly drop before I was ready forcing me to exhale, needless to say I felt like I just wasn't getting enough air. I woke with a massive headache. AHI was 12.43 with a ton of centrals. Last night I used the oxygen with it and it was better. Still had the issue of breathing to fast but slept better. Woke with no headache. AHI of 6.89 again all centrals. Had an appointment with the sleep doc and she didn't like the centrals. So she dropped the settings down to 14/9. She said she would rather I be on oxygen at night then continue to have centrals with the higher pressures. I am suppose to try the new settings without the oxygen for the next week and will have a nocturnal O2 study done next Thursday.
What settings do I change to fix the breathing issue?

Try the various BiFlex settings..and even try turning it off.Cr1kk1t wrote:What settings do I change to fix the breathing issue?
Usually higher is "faster" at least from what I experienced but try all settings to see how it goes.
There's a demo available in the BiFlex window so it makes it easy to experiment.
Also...that minimum PS of 2...that may be contributing to breathing discomfort...not sure which way would be better option for you in your situation but normally a little higher minimum (like 2.5 or 3.0) might be more comfortable.

Bi-Flex is quickest at 1 and slowest at 3 so changing it to 3 will make the turn around a little easier.
It takes the pressure lower before increasing.

And I experienced just the opposite sensation. Felt rushed at 3 and too slow at 1.JDS74 wrote:Bi-Flex is quickest at 1 and slowest at 3 so changing it to 3 will make the turn around a little easier.

This is why I tell people to test all settings.
3 makes me feel like I am hyperventilating.

Re: Got my Bipap a few days ago.
Thank you. I played around with it in all 3 settings and I seemed to like Bi-flex 1 the best. I slept pretty good last night.
Unfortunately I forgot to put the SD card in the machine and now nothing to download to sleepyhead.

Re: Got my Bipap a few days ago.
Actually the PR S1 machines stores a good bit of data on the machine's internal memory so when you put the SD card back into the machine it will write that stored data to the SD card. So not all is lost. The basic important stuff will be put back on the SD card and you only miss the flow rate and a few other graphs that depend on flow rate calculations. There's more than enough to adequately evaluate the night.

Re: Got my Bipap a few days ago.
I did put the SD card in the machine but it never wrote the data for that night onto the card. A setting in the machine maybe?
Re: Got my Bipap a few days ago.
No. There is no such setting in the machine to prevent it from writing the data to the SD card.
What software is telling you there is no data?
Have you actually looked into the SD card to see if any data files for the missing night are in there?
It's in a sub folder in the Pserial number folder called a P0 folder. All the days/nights are there with the highest number being the most recent. Date modified will be the day after the night in question. Example last night's data files will have 6/8/14 as date modified.
There will be 3 file types shown
xxx.001
xxx.002
these are the regular files and what the machines stores in its internal memory
xxx.005 files are the wave form graph/flow rate files and they might be missing if the SD card wasn't in the machine properly.
There is of course a chance that there was a glitch in the writing of the data to the SD card or maybe a bad area on the SD card.

Re: Got my Bipap a few days ago.
So I checked both programs and in encore all the days are there But in sleepyhead there is one night that shows no data despite encore showing data for the same night.
Re: Got my Bipap a few days ago.
Perhaps a little corrupted file that SleepyHead needs to do it's calculations and Encore is okay with the file.
Nothing you can do about it but it might show up later.
If Encore is showing the data then it has to be a SleepyHead issue.
