Sleepyhead install

Post by Seawind36 » Tue Jun 03, 2014 5:10 am

I downloaded Sleepyhead, unzipped the files but the only place I can find to click 'run as administrator' is the file that says Sleepyhead... applications and that doesn't do anything. Any ideas?

Disregard "run as administrator" at this time. That particular instruction was mainly for an older version that required an update after install.
I haven't updated those instructions in a long time.....need to get that done but was waiting on version 0.9.6 so only had to do it once.
The newer versions won't need that administrator detail or that update, at least so far.

I assume you have version 0.9.5 Beta for Windows. There is no installer for that version. Just open the unzipped folder and look in it and scroll down to the bottom of the list of files and folders until you see sleepyhead's application.exe file...I think it is at the bottom of the list. Just click on it to launch the program.
Version 0.9.6 with an installer is in the works but not yet out.

Okay, now that I am home and have time to try to deal with this. When I click on the .exe file, I get an hourglass for a second or two and it stops and nothing happens. Any ideas? I'm going to delete everything and start over, but I figured I would touch base with you again as well. Thanks!

Well, starting over help, but everytime I try - SH shows up in the task manager, but it doesn't come up. I'm running Windows 7 if that helps.

Did you extract all the files in the zip download to some place where you could find it?

I did and when I try to run it, I get a popup asking me if I am sure I want to run this software. I click yes, the hourglass is there for a moment, goes away and nothing happens. If I go into task manager, it shows up in processes. I'm stumped. I've run into the same problem with the Resmed software

I would use task manager to kill the process. Then go to your programs folder and restart using the .exe executable. Windows may be confused.

I tried that. I also deleted all the files, re downloaded it, unzipped it and tried again. Nothing.

Funny machine.

Then I am stumped also. The pop up asking"if you are sure" is normal Windows pop up (which you can disable by clicking on the "do not ask again" part of the pop up) but SleepyHead should open once you tell it "yes, I am sure" and why it doesn't is beyond me. I also wouldn't know why your ResScan software also is problematic. I am using Windows 7 myself and don't have any issues with either. Makes me wonder what might be going on with your Windows OS.

Let's try this.
Remove the 0.9.5 file folders and let's try 0.9.6 pre release version
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/978 ... OpenGL.zip
Download, unzip (extract all), and open the main folder and find the SleepHead application.exe file and try it.

See what happens. If that gives you the same results let's try an older SleepyHead version https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/978 ... -setup.exe
This version includes the installer...download and double click on it to have it install. I don't think it is the zipped folder and it should already include the update that the "run as administrator" direction was geared towards so no need to worry about that little detail.
So should be a simple install. Crossing fingers. Version 0.9.3 has a few minor bugs in the statistics page but the basics are fine. I used it for a long time without significant issues.

I finally got it! My anti virus was blocking it because it didn't recognize it. It didn't pop up with a window until I started looking deeper then it finally came up.

Thanks, Pugsy!
