Newbie with a question

First of all, I want to thank those of you on this forum who respond to questions for taking the time to do so. I know how time consuming this can be. Since I was diagnosed with sleep apnea, I have been trying to absorb as much knowledge as I can from this group while I wait for insurance (Medicare) to approve my CPAP. Needless to say, it's taking much longer than I thought it would, but the end is in sight. I was finally called by the DME late last week and told that my machine was approved and would be delivered on June 5. I knew enough from what I've read here to ask which machine I was getting knowing full well that my doctor had prescribed the ResMed S9. The DME representative said I was getting a Repironics. I don't remember which model. I said that I knew my doctor ordered the ResMedS9. She said "no." I said "yes" probably a little more forcefully than I should have and what do you know, she said, "Oh, yes, the doctor clicked on the Respironics but also wrote in ResMed so I was really getting the ResMed." Thanks to this group, I was aware the DMEs may switch to a less expensive machine since they are reimbursed at the same rate. I also repeated that I would not accept a "used" or "refurbished" machine. I repeated this several times and she agreed. So here's my question. I think I remember reading somewhere that you should get the serial number of the CPAP machine before it's delivered so you can be sure you are getting a new machine. If I am remembering this advice correctly, how/where can I look up the serial number to see if the machine is new? Also, are all the ResMed S9 machines autoset? Thanks so much. No doubt I will have other questions going forward, but for right now I'll be happy to get the machine the doctor prescribed and to start to use it.

There are 4 Resmed S9 models (2 good, 2 bad)

Escape - one set pressure, NO data (bad)

Elite - one set pressure & full data (good)

Escape auto - range of pressures, almost NO data (bad)

AutoSET - range of pressures & full data (best option)

Not the serial #, but the number of hours already used on the machine should be zero).

Someone familiar with ResMed machines can tell you how to check run hours. Do this before accepting the machine. If you do this right in front of the DME tech before accepting the machine you'll shock them (a good thing--it says don't mess with this grandma!).

If you want the Autoset make them show you where it says AutoSET on the machine. Don't accept anything that says Escape on it.

I am a little out of date on Resmed but you definitly want an S9 Autoset.
There will be a model number on the bottom, you want 36037 unless you get a pink one, or you are not in the US.
You also want an H5i Humidifier and heated Climateline hose
and of course you mask of choice
You will also want some replacement air filters
You can then check several items on the LCD:
Total machine hours should be zero
Software version (I needhelp here on the current version)

your setup perameters

Mode APAP
Efficacy Data ON
Ramp time 5 minutes ???
Ramp start pressure at least 6
and all the settings from your sleep study report.
