How long did it take you to feel better on ASV?

Post by Dave007 » Thu May 22, 2014 9:46 pm

I wondering if it takes ASV users more time or less time than the standard CPAP user to feel better? From what I've read is that it can take a CPAP user 1-3 months to feel better.

I've been on ASV for 1 week and so far don't feel any better in terms of my energy levels...I'm hoping I don't have to wait 2-3 months to feel the effects!

It took about ten days to get my pressures worked out.

I had almost immediate relief from the hip pain that resulted in my diagnosis.

OTOH, it took me awhile before I could sleep for more than 2-3 hours at a stretch because I was so used to waking up in pain that I woke up, right "on time," just not in pain.

For me, it was just a few weeks. The first couple of weeks were spent getting the settings right but the titration settings were very close.

Just started with ASV myself, but only have 2 weeks with machine. In these 2 weeks need to decide if I want to get one or not. Been a bad ride so far, so might be tempted to fiddle with settings if I have many more. Wonder which one should be winged first

The good news is that my AHI, and other indicators are really good. My periodic breathing is gone and my TV and RR are decent. However, it took me several months to get used to ASV and I still have good patches and some infrequent bad patches - the bad patches tend to pop up when I try to fight the machine's breathing pattern or have mask issues. High pressures are a new challenge, of course. Consider that it takes about 15 cmH2O pressure to inflate a healthy persons lungs, so that's generally the starting point when the ventilator mode really kicks in. Things are getting better tho as I sort thru my issues.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
