humidifier issue

Post by zenman72 » Mon May 05, 2014 1:24 pm

Anyone have a humidifier stop working on Resmed 8?

I have had a Resmed8 that I prefer to use. I got it black market before being diagnosed. It's 5 or 6 years old. I also have a F&P prescribed by doctor. I like the resmed better because I have the pressure set at 12 whereas the doctor set the F&P at 10 I believe. I'm gonna try to call him to ask him to change it, I don't think I can change it on my own.

Anyway, been using the Resmed till last week when I started to get very dry mouth. Switched to the F&P for a few days. Slept okay till last night, kept waking up and felt I couldn't breath. Put the resmed on. It feels like the humidifier is not working. Very dry, headache, bad sleep. Kept having to get up and drink some water. The light is on for the humidifier but it seems like the water level is the same. Is it possible the humidifier is not working? Any trouble shooting tips? I saw online the H5 humidifier for sale, anyone know if it will work in resmed8? Or if I can find h4 or h3 somewhere?

Any help appreciated

You need to try a full face mask so you won't continue losing therapy air out of your mouth (which apparently opens once you're asleep). The humidifier may help with the dryness, but it won't help your treatment if the air's not reaching your breathing system.

And the higher you push your pressure to compensate for feeling more tired, the worse the problem will get, as the air will make your mouth open even more, you'll have less and less therapy and feel worse and worse.

The F & P should not be difficult to program. If you let us know the exact model, someone can help. The H5 will not work on the Resmed S8.
It's possible that the humidity in your room is high enough that you don;t need humidity. Don't give up on your S8 humidifier yet.

How to get to the clinical menu setup area for the Icon (all models) is available here and you can also request a downloadable pdf of the clinical manual.

Trying the Resmed again, pretty sure something is not functioning correctly in the humidifier. Water chamber is very old, anyone know if that can stop being effective at some point if not replaced or is replacing it just recomended for cleanliness?

Anyone know if the h5i will work in the resmed8?

The H5i humidifier only works with the S9 models.

Secondwindcpap.com has 3i/4i humidifiers for the S8 for $70
used but with a new chamber
