hair being chewed by headgear
My hair is being chewed up by the headgear. Any suggestions?
Re: hair being chewed by headgear
Type the words "protecting long hair" in the search box and you'll find a previous discussion about this. In fact there are quite a few threads about hair breakage.uhope wrote:My hair is being chewed up by the headgear. Any suggestions?

Karen at Pad a Cheek sells these; she also has other products which might cover the parts that hurt your hair.

She has also designed custom covers if you need.

O.k, this part drove me crazy about using the masks!
I pineapple my hair on top of my head. Basically as high as a ponytail as you can get. If you have a scrunchie or a loose hair tie that works best because then it won't leave any dents. I then put on a sleeping cap. You can buy these in Walmart in the hair section. I recommend satin because it will help with frizzies. If you do not have a cap you can cover your head with a scarf. I then put my mask on over this. One bonus of the mask, it holds the cap in place all night! Before APAPing I would have to clip my cap into my hair to keep it on my head all night!

If you post your equipment, It will be easier for others to respond with comments for your particular mask.uhope wrote:My hair is being chewed up by the headgear. Any suggestions?
A link in the signature block explains how to do it.
OTOH, if you switch to an Oracle 2 mask, you don't have to use headgear at all
Caveat: some folks have difficulties adjusting to the Oracle mask so if you are comfortable with your current mask, switching for this particular problem is not my recommendation.
