Suddenly getting red blotchy skin
Never had this in my 8 yrs of cpap. I use the hybrid mask for the last 6 months but this last month I've been suddenly getting red blotchy skin on my chin where it makes contact. It doesn't go away with moisturizers. I'm wondering if maybe since it's Spring (here in Michigan that means increase in humidity) related? Any experience with this type of skin issue?

Rip up a tissue paper and use it as a liner. That is what I do. It is funny that certain parts of ones face are more sensitive then others.

Spring it is. With pollen, micro-organisms, fungus, simply all kinds of things waking up.lovemyapap wrote:Never had this in my 8 yrs of cpap. What to do, well some ideas for you:
Many things on the skin show how things are going inside the digestive tract. Increase fibre, try some fermented foods, decrease added sugar. Do what you can to create a healthy microbiome.
Take a bit of carefully graduated sun. Today I exposed my "tans very well" skin to ten minutes of sun @ UV index 5. I avoided exposing my arms face and neck as those got quite a bit of sun during my walking yesterday. If I pink I went too far but from experiance I will not pink. I may expose again day after tomorrow if no pink. When I can use the sun I do not take any vitamin D3 supplimentation. You might do well to have your vitamin D3 levels checked (should be above 50) see the vitamin D counsil for details on the proper assay.
You might also try smearing a bit of plain, no growth hormone yogurt on the area. My skin loves the stuff and anything such as a bug bite or whatever goes away three times as fast. You should be regularly consuming the specific yogurt for a month before you try this however.
You might try staying away from anitbacterial soaps if you use them for a time.

You apparently have a mild allergy to something in the mask and short of taking Allegra or something every night (not recommended with OSA), it would be a good idea to use liners like Pad-a-Cheek or else consider a different mask.
