Battery rip off

Post by njh » Tue Mar 25, 2014 3:30 pm

Everything I've read points to batterygeeks to rent batteries. Are they the only option?
Their website sucks and when I got someone on the phone they couldn't guarantee I'd get what I want in May... two months from now!

Is anyone out there interested in starting a battery co-op of sorts? There would have to be a different co-op for each battery and a cost-per-use. Since it looks like I will buy a battery for one overnight flight in May, I may even be willing to donate the once-used battery to other F&P Premo users to share around. No point in having it sit and rot in my cupboard.

Having a battery back up is important if you don't have another backup method, like a generator, in the event of a power outage. It might be worth it to you to consider keeping the battery for that use. If you have a generator, then perhaps someone else will buy it from you to use as their backup.

I have a generator but plan to purchase 2 battery backups, 1 for me 1 for my hubby. I don't see purchasing a battery as a rip-off, but rather an investment. If my generator doesn't work, which has happened, then we will be able to sleep anyway.

I'm the same way; without the machine, my snoring could wake the dead.

In point of fact, my generator is so quiet that I slept through the self-test on Saturday -- and it is right outside my bedroom window.

I haven't been able to get a battery yet, but I would like to have one as we usually turn the generator off overnight during a power outage. We are a little ways from the nieghbor, so we wouldn't be bothering anybody else, and we do have 2 cpap machines now in the house. I would still feel better with a battery as a backup option. I wish insurance would cover it.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

ever notice just how quiet the house gets when the power goes off
or how that quiet will wake you out of a deep sleep
and how noise travels when it is quiet out
ever notice

As for the cost:
Even with a dedicated battery pack, my entire setup cost less than a really good bed.

If you just want a battery to keep in the house, consider looking at my Battery Backup Design (V2). It's more cost effective. Though it looks as if it's hard to do, it's a pretty simple design. I just provided a LOT of information to help you.

Hope that helps.
