A Milestone!
Well guys, I've reached a milestone! The "odometer" on my machine turned over 1000 hours last night (1002.7 to be exact)!
I never thought I would be able to stick with it this long (Since Jan. 10). I had multiple problems from the beginning with mask, uncooperative DME, etc. etc. and at first I was ready to throw the machine and the mask out the nearest window. What kept me going was knowing that I didn't want to go back to feeling the way I was before -- tired, disoriented, morning headaches, etc. You know the routine.
I don't usually have much input on this site, I just "lurk" but that lurking turns to LEARNING thanks to all of you. If I wouldn't have been able to come to this site almost every day to get support, to have questions answered, and mostly to just learn from others' experiences, I probably truly would have given up.
Thanks again to all, and keep on keepin' on! It really DOES get better!

That IS quite a motivating factor, isn't it?SleeplessinBradenton wrote:What kept me going was knowing that I didn't want to go back to feeling the way I was before -- tired, disoriented, morning headaches, etc. You know the routine.
Congratulations on your milestone. Hang in there! I hope you've worked out all of the glitches.
Best wishes,

Congratulations!!! I am right there with you. I am 2 nights from hitting my 1000 hour mark. I have actually done pretty well right from the start. I have had a couple of glitches that straightened out with some tweaking but for the most part it has been great. I agree that the thought of going back to pre-pap condition is a nightmare. Maybe we need some kind of 1000 hour club! LOL

Congrats on your milestone!
I did some playing on the spreadsheet to figure out time frames for certain "milestones". Let say a person was 100% compliant and they slept 8 hours a night. Base on 365.25 days per year(to account for leap year) you can see how the hours build for each year.
Years Hours
1 2922.0
2 5844.0
3 8766.0
4 11688.0
5 14610.0
6 17532.0
7 20454.0
8 23376.0
9 26298.0
10 29220.0
I only have about 300 hours. I have been 100% compliant with the exception of 5 days camping without electricity, So for some of us newbies our milestones are calculated in months. Based on 8 hours a night here's how the hours build assuming you started New Year's Day.
Months Hours
Jan 248.00
Feb 474.00
Mar 722.00
Apr 962.00
May 1210.00
Jun 1450.00
Jul 1698.00
Aug 1946.00
Sep 2186.00
Oct 2434.00
Nov 2674.00
Dec 2922.00
I based everything on 8 hours per night...who the hell gets 8 hours of sleep a night!!! LOL
Who knows if the numbers are exactly right but it something to think about.

Sleepless, thanks for posting. I'm sure there are many others who lurk (and there's nothing wrong with lurking) so your story will doubtless provide inspiration to someone else to presevere.
Whether it takes 10 hours, 100 hours, 1000 hours or more, it really is worth the effort when you start getting your life back
