High numbers

Post by GoofyUT » Wed Jun 28, 2006 4:08 pm

Gee, mine were high too. Must be something cosmic going on!

Don't sweat it. Don't EVER sweat one night's numbers. We ALL have good and bad nights. Last night I had a bad one. Tonight'll be better.

jacko- with your Resmed S8 Vantage auto you may also want to make sure your Settling is turned on to the period of time it usually takes you to fall asleep. If the Settling feature is turned off your hypopnea score will be artificially inflated by measuring "events" that occur while you're still awake.

Thanks again for the info
Being new to this cpap thing Im trying to get a understanding of where the readings might be night to night .
Can I ask what sort of range others experience ,so I will then have a better idea of what to expect. I will come to grips with thing eventually with the help of the info from this forum.
Regards Jacko

Does anyone know if this "settling" feature mentioned 2 posts up is available on the Respironics machines, or just the Resmed? The reason I ask is because my events are all inflated because they are occuring mostly when I am awake and being included in the indexes. It is obvious when looking at the data, that the machine is recording Apnea events when I am tossing, or "settling" prior to sleep.

Settling

Post by GoofyUT » Wed Jun 28, 2006 8:19 pm

Settling time is a setting unique to ResMeds. Respironics autos don't have it. They do have a "ramp" function in auto, sort of. Its kind of funky, and someone who knows Respironics autos better than I ought to be the one to explain it.

Hope this helps.
