Night sweating after 5 years on CPAP
Night sweating after 5 years on CPAP
Been doing CPAP or 5-6 years and for the most part has been very good. Lately I have been having night sweating again. Would this be an indication of needing a new sleep study? I am at 11 right now using straight cpap. I do have an M series that will do auto, should I try that? What do you think?
Re: Night sweating after 5 years on CPAP
Are you not using software to follow your progress? That would tell you what's happening and give you some possible reasons. But if not, apart from the night sweats, do you feel ok or is anything else going on as well? Gained any weight (or lost some)? How long has it been since you've had a good check-up with labwork, maybe ECG and possible thyroid testing? Any chance you're having 'silent' acid reflux - doesn't wake you enough for you to be aware of it, but can mess with your system and therapy.
With nothing else to go on except what you wrote, it's a bit hard to just guess - too many possibilities. While night sweats are one symptom of OSA, you can also have them for other reasons, but for me - I do keep track of progress and I'm careful about sleep 'hygiene' --- keep regular hrs, don't drink anywhere near bedtime, etc, I'd consider other things.

If you were showing a nasal mask in your profile, I'd suspect mouth-leaking and inadequate therapy. However, you show a full face mask........so, we have to think of other things.ksp wrote:Been doing CPAP or 5-6 years and for the most part has been very good. Do you have Diabetes? Night sweats could be an indication that your blood sugar is going low (or high).
Any medications (or changes in) that you take which could result in those symptoms?
Yeah, software reports could offer some evidence.

After 5+ years, you suddenly start sweating?
At 77, we can't blame menopause--especially if you are a guy.
Better go to the doctor. This can sometimes be a symptom of chemical imbalance or even cancer.

Re: Night sweating after 5 years on CPAP
As stated, many things can cause night sweats.
Mine turned out to be gastric reflux caused by a hiatal hernia. An acid blocker took care of mine. It was many years ago but as I recall my doctor first tested for heart issues. I would have a doctor check it out.

Actually, 77 is not Chunky Frog's age either (click on her name), but I must say, she does not look a day over 39 . I have found it best in life to never guess or assume a females age, whether human or reptile... nothing good can come out it as you must then beg forgiveness and do the walk of shame .Sludge wrote:She means SHE'S 77.LSAT wrote:Put your glasses on Chunky...77 is the number of posts,,,not agechunkyfrog wrote:After 5+ years, you suddenly start sweating?

Re: Night sweating after 5 years on CPAP
Thanks for all the replys.
Nothing new really has happened but I do have diabetes,,,that seems reasonable that blood sugar levels are going high. I'll check that out. I just thought maybe after a period of time that you need to move your pressure up as you get "used" to the previous pressure.

Re: Night sweating after 5 years on CPAP
Sounds reasonable, except that it doesn't work that way... if anything, you could possibly (especially if you lose some weight) turn it to a lower pressure... but an interesting thought.
