CPAP Pro

Post by jrfoster » Tue Jun 27, 2006 10:39 am

I am new to CPAP and am having a very difficult time trying to get used to nasal makss, with the leakage and head gear, etc. I have only had my machine for 10 days or so, but am really getting irratated. I have tried two different nasal masks, one which caused a red mark and blister on the bridge of my nose. The other leaks into my eyes unless I pull the straps tight, but it is really uncomfortable.
I found a site that advertised a CPAP Pro with nasal pillows, no head gear and with a bite and boil mouth plate. Has anyone tried it? I don't believe my DME carries it and it costs with shipping $194.

Any advice would be helpful, espcially on getting a mask that works! Thanks so much.

Jeff

Jeff if you do a search you'll get info about the CPAP Pro. From what I've read, it doesn't work that great for the most part. Have you tried the traditional nasal pillows? Many people have found success with them. The four popular types are:

Headrest (formerly Aura)
Swift
Breeze
Comfortlite II

I can't give you much info on all four, but I can say the Aura works great for me. I went through a lot of masks before finding that one. What's great is that you don't have to strap it to your face, it's very lightweight, and extremely comfortable. This definitely worked best for me as a stomache sleeper. I also occasionally sleep on my back and it works well in that position as well.

And then there is Mole Skin to pad the mask and bandaids to patch the nose. Jim
