I've been using my CPAP machine every night for over 3 weeks now since I got it (see date in signature), and there has been 3 or 4 nights where I go to look in the morning and it has 0's for that night's data. Therapy time, last night's days > 4, last night's AHI, everything! Normally I would not care except my insurance company requires I rent the thing out for 3 months before I gets converted to a purchase, and I have to stay compliant. It has a cell phone antenna and reports back to the mothership every day. "Compliancy" is set at a pretty low standard of using it over 4 hours a night, 70% of the time. I'm sure even with the 3 or 4 nights of no data I am still compliant, I just don't want the problem getting any worse, especially when I should have 100% compliancy! There's nothing I'm doing differently to the machine on the nights where no data is recorded. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
On a side note, I made this thread about how my nose had become so sore and raw using the Nuance w/ nasal pillows. I tried the lanolin and it wasn't helping. I just felt that my nose was not going to heal if I had to keep shoving nasal pillows into it every night to re-aggravate it. I called my DME company and explained the problem and that I wanted to switch to a nasal mask and I wanted to try the Swift FX Nano. I was still under the 30 day warranty so they gave it to me for free, and I got to keep the Nuance so at least I have a spare mask if I needed it. It has been night and day. My nose no longer hurts, and I also breath so much better with it. No more breathing through a straw feeling. The first couple nights I had to get my leaks under control, but I've since tightened the mask to the point I don't have leaks anymore and am sleeping well through the night. I recommend that mask to anyone who is having trouble with nasal pillows and wants a pretty unobstructive mask.

Use the software to check your usage for final say.
It sounds like you are looking on the machine's LCD screen for the hours and sometimes it just doesn't get updated or you check before it does the updating.
But the machine will write the data to the SD card and you can verify by using the software which is most likely what the DME will use to check compliance.

I've spoken to the DME company and they show a couple nights of me not using it either, so I don't think it is being recorded. They are aware of the issue since I let them know, but had no answer for why it was happening.Pugsy wrote:Use the software to check your usage for final say.

Similarly, is there a more convenient method to getting the data than pulling off the antenna, taking out the sd card, putting it in a computer, and then putting it all back? Any bluetooth or wireless methods to viewing in Sleepyhead? I'd like to be able to look at data quickly or once I'm already at work sitting down in front of a computer, without having to mess around with the card.

Re: PR System One randomly not recording sleep data for night?
No wireless way for you to view the data..sorry. The SD card has to go into your computer.
If the DME is seeing no data for a couple of nights...and the software confirms no data recorded...and you did use the machine then the machine is faulty in its recording process and that is unacceptable and the DME should be doing more than shrugging their shoulders.
I look at it this way...if it isn't recording when I know darn well I was using it...then how can I trust anything it is telling me???
Now the on screen thing...the daily use isn't updated until 12 noon GMT time...so sometimes people are checking it prior to the update time. The SD card is updated immediately when machine is turned off but the on screen data isn't updated until the Noon GMT thing. So I don't get all excited about the on scree thing.
And sometimes it just doesn't update properly on the LCD screen...at least that is what people swear happens.
Rare though....and the software doesn't show any gaps.
The software has the final say....if there are gaps showing no use and you did use the machine...and it doesn't show "no breathing detected" which might be from a big leak...then that is unacceptable.
I have probably over 2 years on PR S1 machines of some sort. I have never had a gap where the machine didn't record a night of use when I used it. Not once...but I use the software for verification. Never have had it miss writing to the SD card properly.

You are correct that the issue at this time is being compliant.
Take the machine back to the DME and request a replacement while they get it fixed.

Re: PR System One randomly not recording sleep data for night?
I've tried several of the WiFi SD cards and that don't quite have the software, though the hardware should have the capability. Maybe someday I'll figure it out. In the meantime, I leave the cell phone antenna off for several days at a time since it seems to do a good job of "batching" the data transfer. But I've made it through the 90-day trial period so I don't worry about that.the block wrote:Similarly, is there a more convenient method to getting the data than pulling off the antenna, taking out the sd card, putting it in a computer, and then putting it all back? You can look on the SD card to see if data files got written out - the one hiccup I had seemed to be caused by pulling the powercord before it was written. Drill down on the directories and you should find three files for each time session. The machine saves data for a week, so even if the card had a bad connection one time you put it in, it could still have the data.
I agree with others - if the machine isn't properly recording, return it.
