Cpap humidifier
Cpap humidifier
Hi. Everyone. Thank you so much for letting me join your group. I have been using a CPAP since sept 2012. At the same time I was taken off some Meds, and shortly after both these changes I started having problems with my head. After many doctor and specialist visits, along with testing, they found nothing wrong. So I'm trying to figure this out on my own. I have this pressure feeling in my head. No headache. No dizziness. It's a feeling of something in my head being swollen...only way I can describe it. After trying different things, I am wondering if it can be caused by the humidifier on my CPAP? Does anyone else have any issues with this? Thanks!

"No" and "No". Go see your doctor!Sue0957 wrote:Hi. Everyone. Thank you so much for letting me join your group. I have been using a CPAP since sept 2012. You've given us virtually NO information to go on. (which is typical of the "hit & run posters") We're not mind-readers.

Hi - if neurologists and other MDs haven't found the answer how on earth can strangers on the internet help you?
Re: Cpap humidifier
Geez, thanks for such a warm welcome. I thought this was a support group to ask questions of other CPAP users. I didn't know asking if anyone else was having head issues using the humidifier was so wrong. I wasn't asking for a diagnosis. Thanks for your help! I will happily delete myself from this group.
Re: Cpap humidifier
Wow. Both those responses were incredibly rude. I just found this site and started reading some posts and this was one of the first ones. Bad first impression. It seemed to me that Sue0957 did actually provide ALOT of information about her issue and specifically only asked if any other CPAP users experienced the same thing. Not looking for a diagnosis! I know from experience how frustrating it can be to see doctor after doctor and take test after test with no answers, and you have to take matters in to your own hands to figure out what's wrong. If people in this group don't want to be helpful to new users, then don't allow new users. I am no longer interested in this site and will seek support elsewhere.
Re: Cpap humidifier
Wow! I also just joined. I'm so sorry for how those people treated you whoever they are. I don't know the answer to your question... just wanted to let you know that I didn't see anything wrong with what your post... looks like a great starting point to me.
God bless!

Next time you call your mechanic do you say "My vehicle is making a funny noise - what is wrong ?" without specifying whether you are talking about a motorbike, sedan, or truck or what make it is and expect the mechanic to give a detailed answer?

JamieG and snow king, thank you for your nice words, I really appreciate it. I was just looking for experiences from other people. I didn't know anything about having to fill out a profile. But also don't know what difference what kind of machine I use would make in this circumstance. It was just a random question. Have never had such rudeness presented to me when joining a group before this. I will find another.

Re: Cpap humidifier
Of course it makes a difference whether you are using a cpap, apap, bipap or asv. It also makes a difference what kind of mask you are using, your pressure, your AHI and what type of events you have and which medications. It makes a difference if you have a data capable machine which can just about show you every breath as opposed to a brick which just says "she is using it" so the DME can get their money from your insurance.Sue0957 wrote:JamieG and snow king, thank you for your nice words, I really appreciate it. You won't find another group willing to help you deal with your issues - all the other will tell you to talk to your DME or doctors. But we are all volunteers and we are not doctors and we can't read your mind.

You said that you started CPAP and went off of meds in September of 2012. Then, wanted to know if some kind of feeling of your head being swollen could be caused by the humidifier on your CPAP.Sue0957 wrote:Hi. Everyone. Thank you so much for letting me join your group. You didn't tell us what kind of meds you were on before you discontinued them.
You didn't tell us what kind of machine you're using.......CPAP, APAP, Bi-PAP, ASV.
You didn't tell us what pressures your machine is set to.
You didn't tell us if you clean the intake filters on your machine.
You didn't tell us if you use distilled water in your humidifier
You didn't tell us if or what humidifier setting you use on your machine.
You didn't tell us if and how you clean and change the water in your humidifier.
So, just WHY would you suspect that what you're experiencing could possibly be caused by a CPAP humidifier after over a year of therapy?
It's NOT being "rude" to ask for information about things related to your questions. It's also not "rude" to recommend that a person with those symptoms to consult a doctor.

Please enumerate what that information was that she gave. Just saying "ALOT" and making generalizations doesn't cut it.JamieG wrote:Wow. Both those responses were incredibly rude. Re: Cpap humidifier
With the millions of users on the internet, it seems moot to ask if anyone has used or done anything ever, with or about anything. Even then would that make answer revelent to your experience, I think not. This type of question is ask often, just to hear the echo I guess.
They say there are no dumb questions, maybe so, I seriously doubt it, but for sure there are many useless ones.
All of us that stick around here have gotten help, and I am sure we have asked some dumb questions, I hope mine weren't too bad. Jim
All you need to know is one this site or in the posts, it just requires the effort to read. But if you become a member, fill in your profile in TEXT, not Iconny, along with how you use your equiptment, you can better get help. We may growl, but we don't bite, often.

Re: Cpap humidifier
I have already received much information from another group with helping and open arms, not the rudeness that you all spit at me the very first time that I posted a question. How about trying to be kind and guide someone to the correct way of asking for information instead of spewing nastiness to them. When I joined this group, it DID NOT ask me any information about myself other than a user name and email. How would I know that I had to fill out a profile? There wasn't one nice or helpful word out of any one from this group, yet two new people chimed in and saw the same thing that I did....nastiness. I wouldn't join this group to save my life. Maybe you should all go back and reread what you wrote to someone who was just looking for a simple answer. You should all be ashamed of yourselves for treating someone like this. And now to find the delete button.
