Wisp Mask: Learned something new

Post by Suzannaor » Sat Feb 01, 2014 9:50 am

Yesterday I met with the Sleep Therapy Technician. I have tried about 5 different masks in the 9 months I've used the C-PAP, and really like the Wisp mask. However, the metal tabs hurt my face! I've been using makeup pads between my cheeck and the mask, but that causes leakage. She told me that the company representative said you could remove those metal tabs! I sure didn't realize that. Came home and took them off and discovered there is still a slot to pull the Velcro tabs through. Last night I slept for 6 hours with the mask, rather than my usual 4 or 5! She also said I am in compliance (per Medicare requirements) and did not need to have another follow-up visit for a year!

I suppose everyone here using the Wisp already knows this, but just in case wanted to share this information.

I also use the Wisp mask without the tabs. I tried it at first with the tabs but they bothered me, so I've been using without ever since.

Good tip. Just tried it without the tabs. Seems to be more stable and seal better. Sometimes simpler is better.

Do you mean the headgear clips?

Mine are plastic. And yes, they dig into my earlobes--but they help preserve the Velcro,
which wears out too quickly if peeled and re-stuck every day.

Yes, chunkyfrog, those are the clips. Mine are metal and really bother my face and ear lobes. I'm not worried about the Velcro tabs wearing out because with my insurance I can replace my mask every 6 months if neccessary.

I leave the right side tab on only..I like the quick release function.
What I dont get is the quick release for the tube. It works fantastic but only if you dont have the tube running thru the loop on top of head gear.
It defeats the purpose
