EDF, RLK, and ResMed S9 data conversion

Post by bighead » Wed Jan 29, 2014 10:13 pm

Good evening all!

I'm enjoying my ability to fiddle around and read the data from my new S9 APAP without getting the crazy expensive S8 reader I refused to buy. I'm also really "enjoying" ResScan.

I was happy to find that S9 saves data in EDK format, which is easily readable in SleepyHead on my Mac. Unfortunately, as other folks have noted, ResScan converts the raw EDF data to it's own RLK format upon import. The awful performance of ResScan on my netbook is much easier to explain knowing what is happening behind the scenes.

I've come up with a big fat nothing when it comes to finding ANY way of pulling externally-usable data from ResScan RLK files on any platform. Now that I understand the order of operations needed to get hi-res data into SleepyHead and ResScan, I'd like to get the 5 days of data from ResScan back out into an "open" format.

If I get really REALLY bored, I might dive into the file format and see if there's anything I can do with the RLK files, but barring that, has anyone found a way to convert RLK back to EDF? I think I know what the answer is, but figured it is worth asking just in case.

Thanks in advance from a grateful semi-noob!

I wish someone would give you guidance on this.

I'd like to try SleepyHead but I've have 4 years of data in ReScan.

It doesn't look like I can transfer the data over.

You can use BOTH of them at the same time.

That will enable you to at least "try" SleepyHead.

It seems like ResScan 4.3 removes the files from the card, as I was not able to get any hi-res data from the card after I loaded it into my PC. My current strategy is to import the data into SleepyHead on my Mac, then drop it into ResScan on the PC.

The files coming out of ResScan are much larger than the raw files recorded on the card, so without some real trick reverse engineering, I don't think it will be possible to convert historical data stored in ResScan back to EDF for use in SleepyHead. It's not much of an issue for me, as I've only got a week worth of data missing from SleepyHead, but it sure sounds like there are folks who could use that capability.

ResScan does NOT remove any files from the card when you load the card into your PC.

What is probably happening is that you are NOT choosing the right option.
You must specify that it also load the hi-res data. Then you can save that as the default & it will load the hi-res every time.
