Rather than looking for ways to rip people off why not try to find a solution if you look there is always a way.
your misunderstanding, im not looking to steal a machine, im just reinforcing the security of the 2500$ that getting the cpap/test/doc visits insured in case need be

No YOU are misunderstanding............ there have been 6 or 7 posts on this thread ALL telling you that you are WRONG.... so who is misunderstanding, not me nor the other six folks that have replied, so it has to be you.
And that gets your self esteem up on the internet? feeling "right" over someone else's texts?
I may be unethical, but im watching over my investment, thats all, i went though hell obtaining the money/suffering/while in school to make this bipap happen, so im gonna make sure, i have on for a long time.

That is bull you do not need to pay $2500 you can buy a second machine from secondwind for as little as $80 using your current prescription as I said if you look there is always a way.... I feel for you trust me I know what it is like to have very little money but you are going about this the wrong way I have even seen people offer machines to people who are truly in need. Rather than looking for the problem look for an answer there is ALWAYS at least 1

Ruined: As long as you are set in your plan, I would suggest you not do your testing on your "good" machine.
Find a similar used machine for cheap on Craig's List, and test your plan on that.
Better yet, save it for a back up if something really goes wrong with your "good" machine.
Stuff happens all the time, beyond our control; and suppliers will surely make you wait if it does.

You can get a machine a lot cheaper then that by going on line or buying privately ie craigslist or kijiji or from one of the people selling here. Buying privately is not illegal and certainly a lot more legal then committing fraud. Which is what I did, bought a newer better model for $500. My Resmed S8 is now my back up and travel machine (and nearly 4 or 5 years old)

You realize of course they could just fix the machine and send it back or send you a reconditioned machine with a 3 month warranty.
i did not know that, how does one test a machine got on craigslist for flaws or errors.
and i figured it was illegal due it being an RX only apparatus

Something else to consider, I believe Phillips Respironics does not deal directly with consumers for warranty issues. Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't warranty issues are handled through the DME provider. They are the ones who send your machine in for repair.

So if your machine does "break" how would you send it in?

Its through the DME, when i had my first bipap, it crapped on me after the first year, and i called the DME and they simply replaced it (the machine and not the humidifier)
I didn't deall with Manufacturer. so its likely through DME for most as well.

+1! I know you don't want my opinion but I'll give it anyway...what you're proposing is pretty sleazy, fraudulent and unethical no matter what your financial situation is. What did the manufacturer ever do to you to condone this underhand tactic. And your language doesn't help my opinion either! I'm sure there are many people here with worse situations that wouldn't dream of resorting to this . BTW, you probably talked your way out of a kind machine donation from some of our charitable members, myself included.

like i said i got 2 years on it. and i wont change a thing untill 22 months,
i simply don't have the money to shell out because phillips like many other electronic companies put a "stopwatch" on their products, so we have to keep buying it,

im simply stating what can be done, i don't care of your ethical opinions or anything, im posting the info and its here if you want to use it or to laugh at it. but its here, and im sure some are interested in using,

if you can afford decent quality health insurance, then power to you.
i can't. so ill do what i gotta do.
UM, it actually is technically fraud, and exposes you to liability, and on top of that it just won't work anyway -- the manufacturer/DME takes the machine back, discovers its just a software glitch, resets the machine and mails it back to you. They aren't that stupid after all. And on top of that, even if they did 'replace' the machine with a new or refurb one (which they will not in this case) the warranty on the 'new' machine still dies at the two years from the original start date of the first machine. Have you never read a warranty before? Perhaps you should do so now.

And also this is 2014 -- you know that you can actually now get your own comprehensive insurance and if you are broke, get subsidies to help pay for it? Have you gone to http://www.healthcare.gov yet? That would allow you to get a new machine after the warranty runs, and give you some peace of mind at night. So in two or three years you can therefore save up for the co-payment/deductible for a new machine or repair. It's a cost of living expense like anything else.

Plus these machines usually last years and years before failing. DeVilbiss even gives a five year warranty on their machines.

i really am just fumed from my first experience with repironics.
i figured when they replace the machine they give you a new or refurb one the warranty restarts
