Need help replacing machine, totally lost

Post by l » Fri Dec 27, 2013 1:41 pm

I was diagnosed about 5 years ago and insurance got me a Respironics M Series Auto CPAP with A-Flex. The machine quit working so I went to get a replacement. Through my insurance, it's going to be about $80 a month for 13 months, or I can lease it for 4 months at $80 a month and I have to cover part of the buy out. Either way, I end up paying about the same.

Looking online, I could just buy one out of pocket for less than my deductible, which is sad. I've been reading and reading and am more lost than when I started. Can someone suggest a decent replacement for the one I had? It had the humidifier and card for the doctor. All the flex stuff just gets too confusing on what's best and what to get, so I figured suggestions from users would be better. Thanks for any help.

The 2 most popular APAP machines are the Resmed S9 Autoset and the Reperonics DS560. The PR names are confusing but the model numbers are unique. You will probably need a new Humidifier and I recommend a heated hose option.

You can order either one from the sponsor here or Secondwind dot com for a "used" machine at a discount

I also have a 3 year old Resmed S9 autoset that I have outgrown. Do your research and make me an offer if you are interested.

The secondwind site referred to previously is secondwindcpap.com. They are a reputable dealer in used equipment. A DS510 similar to what you had but with low hours and a 6 month warranty is $349. If you went that route and loved your previous treatment it would have no learning curve for you. I am not affiliated with secondwind but have made purchases there.

I help people out on this site that are interested in zero hour new machines at greatly reduced prices. I don't keep an inventory but do have a waiting list. A current model DS560 with humidifier and such goes for about $375 to $400 when I have them. If you register on the site you can exchange messages with members and chat with all of us. Join the crowd we are a fun bunch!

Yes on second wind! I have dealt with them, they sell both new (open box) and used machines ... Mark here has a good reputation too, and offers machines at GREAT prices!

If you are in a hurry either buy a new one from cpap.com, or look at craigs list for a use one near you that you maybe able to pick up today!

Mark gives a 6 month warranty on used ones. Open box units have the original manuf. warranty.

Sorry, I was registered, but must have posted without being logged in. I will look into both machines and appreciate the advice!
