using the white filter for my bipap machine

does anybody know do I need to use the optional white filter for my bipap I find that if I take the white filter out of the back of my machine it seems as the machine blows at a harder pressure even if the display screen says that it is blowing at 6.0CMH2O I have a pressure of 20.0

I have not noticed any pressure difference in my machine with or without it... I have noticed that I breathe a lot better with it. I have pet allergies and have cats - so... now that I have been using the biPAP my allergies are much much better. My wife did say that her machine felt "funny" one night, like the pressure was low - I changed the white filter as I did not even realize she was using one and it was almost 6 months old. I believe they say to change the white filter monthly...

I just changed mine today and it was grey...

So I'd guess without it, that junk would end up in my mask and in me...

I'd opt to use them...they are cheap.

The white filter is a finer level of filter. Take it out and you get to breath more particles, like you do all day. As far as pressure change, the pressure is supposed to be controlled on the output side of the machine. If there is a real pressure difference, your machine is broken. You need a accurate manometer to tell, yous ear isn't tuned good enough to make scientific determination. Jim

Correct. The order is:

Machine | White Filter | Black spongy filter

From outside to inside the black filter will block larger particles, and then the white filter will catch the smaller particles that passed through the black filter.

They're awful cheap if you buy them in bulk (50 at a pop). I change mine twice a month, and wash the gray filter weekly (I have two, and alternate).

The white one is always somewhat gray when I discard it.
