FWIW, I run races at distances up to the marathon. I had the opportunity this summer to have my VO2max measured on the treadmill, just like the article discusses.

I ran the calculation and they overestimated my "fitness" by 10%. If my VO2max was what they predicted, I could win my age group in just about any race I entered.

The article talks about having ages 20-90 in their population, but my guess is that there were far more 20-40 yr olds than senior citizens.

+1 Me too! Mine might be do to a job change from being extremely active (labor) using my body, to now spending most of my time at a desk (supervision), along with the stress and responsibility that comes with it. So, for most days lately I would have to say 112 is about right... .

My uncle worked until he was 89. He stopped working because of his wife being sick. Soon after he retired he had to go to the nursing home because he lost his upper body strength. He had Polo as an infant and had used crutches all his life.

64, but fitness age says older than 75.

I'm 65, so lots of on my results:

Your VO2MAX is calculated to be
45
and your estimated "fitness age" is
46

Not even going to bother after looking at the first page - I can't fit into the questions due to my commitments here.
There was a time when I was out running, out lifting my kids. So that will have to do to help.
I have more upper body strength and stronger butt & thighs from lifting Mom but my aerobic ability is sorely lacking right now.

Interesting calculator, and a good motivator. I'm sure that it undercalculated my fitness age because even though I feel pretty darned good at 65, I suspect that my "fitness age" is a bit more than "under 20".

To get better results, just plug in the "actual waiste value in inches" and don't bother multiplying by 2.5 for cm

I'm 62, but my fitness age came out to be 32. I wonder how much of it is due to the fact that I've lost 100.8 lbs. and work out daily?
