Senceawake
Re: Senceawake
I am assuming you use a Fisher & Paykel machine since you have Senseawake. I don't know of any other machines that have that feature.
Not many people here have Fisher & Paykel machines but there are more than there used to be.
If you register, and get your machine and mask showing up, someone with that machine can probably answer your question.

Re: Senceawake
How do you know Sensawake is making your AHI go higher? Do you really have enough data to show a strong correlation?Markh295 wrote:Why is senceawake making my AHI go higher when I switch it on

Re: Senceawake
Sense awake lowers your pressure when it senses you are waking up to prevent you from fully waking up. I would try raising the minimum pressure a bit.

Re: Senceawake
Not enough information to make suggestions to change the pressure. All the info we have is:
For all we know his AHI was 0.5 without Sensawake and 0.6 with one night of Sensawake.
Need more info.

Re: Senceawake
Let's tie in the other thread started by the OP to see what the AHI was and what it went to.

My AHI is 26 and my 90% is 2.3 not sure what this means could someone please explain
I have a F&P Icon Auto the only way I get my AHI under 5 is to switch off senceawake and set machine at 11 min and 17 max and my 90% is always at 17 but I feel a lot more tired and the pressure is hard to stop mask leaking a lot. If I switch on senceawake at 11/17 then my AHI goes up to 16 "
It would be nice if we could see the actual reports with and without Sensawake being on.
I wonder if the Sensawake pressure drops are letting more apnea events occur because of the drop in pressure associated with what Sensawake does...or if they are maybe centrals..as in sleep onset centrals associated with multiple awakenings/sleep onsets.
SleepyHead 0.9.3 will work with the Icon and give at least some information that might help in seeing the events and if they are indeed occurring with the drop in pressure when Sensawake kicks in. I have links for SleepyHead in my signature line.
90% being 2.3.... I have no idea what that means. That's too low a number to be pressure used. We need to see the entire report to maybe figure out what it means.
With Sensawake being "On"...whenever the machine "thinks" you are awake (it doesn't have any way to know for sure) it drops the pressure down to the minimum pressure which is usually 4 cm and it's possible that during the time it takes the machine to go from 4 cm back up to the 11 cm minimum that you need for optimal apnea prevention, that there are apnea events popping up because the pressure is too low to prevent the collapse of the airway. The machine doesn't/can't go from 4 cm to 11 cm in the blink of an eye..it takes a bit of time to climb back up to the pressure that is needed to hold the airway open.
This would be my first suspect for an elevated AHI with Sensawake being "On" and why nice lower AHI when Sensawake is not used.
No drops in pressure to allow the collapse of the airway so much.
