Long hair and straps -- newbie

Hi, I'm a newbie, I've only had my bipap and mask since Friday, most of my questions I've been able to answer by reading thru, but the one I haven't seen so far is how do you deal with long hair and the straps?

My hair is long and I put it in a loose pony that goes above the bottom strap.

I do a braid in the back. Loose hair ends up under the mask and tickles your face after you get all comfy. It is also much harder to get the mask back on if you need a potty break at 3am.

I bought a sports beanie that wicks away moisture so it isn't hot. Put it on first, then my mask/headgear. Then I just let my long hair stay flat under all straps down my neck and back. I tried ponytail and braid but it was too bulky on the back of my head if I slept on my back. With beanie, no more hair getting caught in velcro and pulling hair out every morning when taking off mask/headgear. I've used the beanie for 9 months now and won't gear up for the night without it. My hair is down to my waist in the back so is VERY long. Hair strands are fine but I have a lot of hair so makes a bulky ponytail.

Even before CPAP, I put my hair up to sleep. Really, as soon as I get home, it's up. I use a Goody hair tie, wrap it around twice and for the third time I don't pull my hair all the way through so it stays in a loop. My hair is kind of fine so putting it up keeps it from getting too tangled while I sleep.
