9 hours 55 mins sleep 3 hours 14 mins Large Leak

Post by Bill44133 » Sun Oct 13, 2013 10:32 pm

I started using my Resmed Quattro Full Face Mask on 9/6. I enjoyed weeks of No or very few minutes of Large Leaks. I just thought to myself I have this large leak thing beat.

These last few days the reports have been terrible with Large Leaks. I spent a lot of my own money out of my pocket for this mask

Is this mask worn out already? Does the plastic seals only last about 5 weeks? Do I have to buy the replacement stuff every month or something?

What is every one else experience?

You might look into the posts here about boiling the cushion on your mask if the cushion type allows it (silicone), to see if you can renew it and get more use out of it. The "Search" widget up at the upper left side of this page is your friend, and you can find lots of specific information like that using it.

Good luck.

The mask will last forever...the seals can last 3-6 months or longer. The large leaks can be controlled with a mask liner, a gecko pad or anti-leak strap. Go to padacheek.com and check out the assortment. (Also...be sure you are using the correct size mask).

Try using medical grade wipes (tell your pharmacist they're for Cpap cushions) because they can restore integrity to cushions that have gone all floppy. I use them about twice a month (apart from reg. cleaning) and they do the job.

I have been using the CPAP wipes on it. I bought them from our cpap.com. Is there another kind of wipes that the pharmacy knows about?

I use the baby wipes from CVS pharmacy...unscented, no alcohol, hypoallergenic. They work great...64 wipes for less than $3

Is there a specific name for them?

I got them free with an order of some equipment last year (not from Cpap.com ), but the label's long gone so I have no idea what they are, tho' don't remember anything particularly special about them vs others... sorry!

If you think of the name let me know.. I would appreciate it.

Good news is I called CareCentrix the company who my insurance company contracts with to manage my sleep costs.
They advised me that I can order new cushions every 90 days. So, they are going contact the DME to send new cushions out to me.
In another month I can order another mask covered by my health insurance . The costs on this sleep apnea is enough to send you
to the poor house.
