Encouraged

Post by andy5805 » Sat Oct 12, 2013 4:17 am

just did a full night on my machine. Very encouraged as this is probably the furthest I've got with it yet.

Kept on all night religiously, not a second off it, woke almost every 2 hours, got up early - feel great, my mind feels calm, there's no panic, stress or rushing to me, I feel relaxed not on edge, and I can think, I don't just function on autopilot - my intelligence is back to do that - this is testimony to both the need for therapy and the destructive power of OSA - i.e. if I can wake up every two hours and still feel better than I have all week, there is definitely something in it. A rough guess of mine would be - the OSA was waking me up far more than once every two hours, hence the great leap into the world of the awake.

I want to keep this feeling and this memory fresh in my mind. So I'll write it here for me, and also for others who cannot tolerate the machine, Because now more than ever I know that this machine, which I hate, is the answer, and that if I persevere and if I master this one thing, it will be life-changing.

I need others reading this who struggle like me to realise my compliance has been terrible, I've reacted awfully to therapy, I've given up again and again and again, yet I've known that it's the answer and that it's pushed me to keep trying.

This could be one of the hardest things I ever have to master, but if I do it, goodness me the reward is not even something I can appreciate most of my life yet. But today I feel awake and I feel alive. And it's due to completely artificially sleep because the way I sleep otherwise, clearly does not work. This is a notion that is as scary to me as it is amazing. The fear needs to go, and then the life I had will return.

Congratulations!! You can do it for you. I started my therapy April 30 of this year. I haven't felt this good in years.

I used to sleep every free moment that I had. I figure I was 3 years behind in getting things done around the house. Since, about August I have caught up about 2 years,
My energy level is unbelievable. My condo is clean and painted and things put away. Its beautiful.

The jerks that I work with told me that they liked me better when I was sleeping

Keep it up.

Way to go! Stories like yours inspire others. I'm glad you shared.

Believe it or not, I now experience times at night when I'd swear the machine isn't even on. I wave my hand in front of the vent holes in the mask to make sure. So stick with it, it does get to be more comfortable and "normal" feeling.

Kudos, Andy!
CPAP made me more clear-headed, better-natured, and gave me more endurance.
It has changed my life.
Sadly, I have discovered that my domestic inertia was pure laziness, which remains to this day.

It's great to hear a newbie come back with that positive of a response... I think you're on the right track

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
