I think Pugsy's suggestion to try another hose is a good one.

Before you get that SlimLine hose delivered, you could also try setting setting Climate Control to "Auto" and turn up the temp to 80 or whatever is comfortable. Just in case for some odd reason it might be malfunctioning under the manual/higher humidity setting. The auto setting on climate control should deliver 80% humidity IF it is working correctly and therefore use more water.

Just a thought while you are waiting for the other hose to test out...

I have a Respironics Bipap with a humidifier, but the concept is the same.

A humidifier adds water to the air. That will require water. If the water level isn't going down, it isn't humidifying the air. Cause and effect -- pure and simple.

My humidifier tank is exhausted in the morning. When I turn it on, the air is warm and moist -- feels like warmed, humidified air.

That's true, but we are trying to determine WHY this is the case. Any number of settings, sensors (including the one in the heated hose), or non-functioning components can cause it to not work correctly.

Martin, I wish it was that pure and simple and IMO it should be. My first machine was a Respironics Cpap. I wiped out almost a tank every night also. I thought this ResMed Auto would be pretty much the same. It isn't and I've tried everything I can. The DME is as sick of talking to ResMed as I am.

Bosstow, I tried the ResMed Tech guys suggested settings, because I promised I would, manual at 6 and 70* (instead of the Clinicians setting at 80*). Within half an hr being wide awake I could feel the upper throat/nose area going increasingly, painfully dry. Much worse than when set at 80* on manual. I then tried your suggestion and went to Auto 80*. The water level didn't go down at all but I didn't feel an increase in dryness and at least I was comfortable enough to sleep awhile.
There is only the hose left to try. I'm crossing my fingers that the non-functioning component is the hose. If it isn't, continuing with this machine is NOT an option for me, but I don't know what to do from here. I can't deal with this painful dryness any longer. Thanks for taking time to post your suggestion.

Just in case anyone checks back:
DME gave me a slim line hose to try. I had so much water in the hose that either I got rained out or the hose gurgled loudly so either way within 4 hrs I was awake to drain the water/change masks. My RT said he felt this was a good indication that the climate line was the source of my problems of no humidity.
I got a new climate line from the DME on my dime. (ResMed wouldn't even look at the system or consider the climate line hose as a possible problem) In auto setting I can actually feel too much warmth, but I still not getting enough humidity I needed. (could be the room humidity involved) On manual setting, I am using 5 and 80* and I am noticing that I use 1/3 of the water and the temp of the air is just comfortable so my dry issues are easing up.
It would seem the climate line hose that came with my system wasn't functioning properly.

I'm just glad that I have some humidity again!

I use a S9 and climate hose and to keep my sinuses from drying out I am on 6 on the tank and 75 degrees on the hose. I was on 5.5 and 83 degrees but it was too hot as the night progressed. I use about half a tank in 6.5 hours, I may have to increase the hose temperature as winter comes on.
My only concern is rain out as winter rolls around, but I have not gone through a winter using the S9 climate hose. The rain out did happen in the past, even when using an Aussie heated hose so I will have to hope.

You could add a hose and barrel cover for your Aloha from Padacheeks if you get rain out. I had a heated hose with a PR S1 last spring (still cold) and because I also like humidity and a little warmth I got quite a bit of rain out even with that heated hose. The added cover on the short hose and the cover on the barrel really helped with the rain out. I have a feeling I may need to use these again this winter even with the climate hose... at least in the manual setting. ResMed states that in Auto setting the climate line takes care of rain out. Since I've only had this set up for a month + I don't know what winter will bring either.
