Forgot to put in SD card!

Post by Go-dog-go » Mon Sep 09, 2013 1:48 pm

I just discovered that last night I forgot to put the SD card back in my machine!! The data shows up on the machine but how do I make sure it gets loaded onto the card? I'd hate to mess up my 30 day compliance!!

i wish i knew the answer to your question. what i will say is that i am not on compliance but did the same thing. when I put the card back in the autoset, it said reading card like usual. unfortunately when i went into sleepyhead and rescan, that day was blank. i hope someone comes along who knows what to do.

Huh?

Do you get spankings for one missing night of data out of thirty?

Thanks Oak!

Well ChicagoGranny, not yet!! I'm halfway through the 30 day compliance period required by my insurance and I'd rather not have to start over. Hopefully it went to my RT wirelessly!

Not to worry. The machine retains the info needed to show compliance. It stores 365 days of summary data, which is what is used for compliance review, 30 days of detail data such as pressures, leaks, volumes, etc., and 0 days of high resolution data which is high resolution flow and pressure. The only data for which the card HAS to be in the machine in order to be recorded is the high resolution flow and pressure. By default the HR pressure data is not shown in Resscan nor Sleepyhead, only the flow data.

I have forgotten to replace my SD card on a few occaisions. I put it back in the cpap, and most of the data gets written to the card. On my unit, I only lose the breath by breath information. Events are logged, along with usage, leaks, pressure etc.

Try it.

This is true for the Respironics PR System One machines. Wave form or flow rate is all that is lost of the SD card is not in the PR S1.

And this is true for the S9 machines but let me just add this little bit of information to help clarify why SleepyHead may not show what eventually gets written to the SD card when you put it back in the S9.

If you are using SleepyHead the software will show a big goose egg for usage because SH needs those detailed data files to calculate anything but don't worry...ResScan doesn't need them and ResScan will still show the usage that the machine has stored on it and ResScan is what your DME will be using to satisfy insurance requirements.
So SleepyHead will likely show no usage for that night..come next week or next month but don't worry...ResScan will show it.
Been there and done that with my S9 VPAP. Nothing we can do about SleepyHead and the big goose egg but you really haven't lost it...it's there but SH can't see it because the files it uses are absent and nothing you can do to fix it.

In ResScan the summary data will still be available just like always...but if you tried to get the detailed graphs they would not be available.

I would feel more comfortable with someone else saying this because I buy all of my own equipment and don't deal with compliance issues. But shouldn't someone tell Go Dog that one night of missed therapy will not flunk the compliance requirement?

I've done the same thing. My mind works to find methods to avoid duplicating my mistakes. So now what I do is follow this procedure:
  • Unplug cord from back of machine and lay cord over top
Remove SD card from machine and immediately lock it
    Insert SD card in computer
When removing the SD card from the computer I unlock it
Insert the SD card back in the machine
    Plug in the machine
I have had no problems since I started this with returning the card or screwing up the data on the card. However I have approached my machine at night and noticed it is still unplugged and remembered then I need to get the darn card out of the computer.

CG kind of implied that with her sideways answer, but to make it clear to the OP, you are correct.
