Machine gets too noisy during the night
I am able to use my apap machine just fine but during the night the machine gets noisy and labored and wakes up my spouse.
My old cpap machine did this too so I wonder is there anything that can be done?

Re: Machine gets too noisy during the night
are you sure its the machine? could it be the mask you are using starts to leak during the night? how old is your mask? are using sleepyhead and if so do you see any leak issues? are you accidentally covering the exhaust valve on your mask with your covers? please go to the user control panel at the top left of your screen and fill in your equipment. it will help people in answering your questions. thanks.

Just tell him to wear ear plugs either that or get used to it as your cpap machine is going to be around for a very long time. Ask him which he would prefer, the slight noise or you with a stroke or heart attack or heaven forbid....dead.

Re: Machine gets too noisy during the night
It could be your machine is defective or needs routine maintenance. Contact your DME. Maybe your spouse is just sensitized to the noise. BTW, there's always going to be some noise at some level. Several people here have reported good results by putting the machine in a drawer and running the hose thru an opening. I like using a white noise generator but some folks just think that compounds the problem. If your spouse is still complaining after trying these things, then you've got a tougher problem to solve, ie. ranging from ear plugs to separate bedrooms.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
Re: Machine gets too noisy during the night
To add to what SNO said, the surface your machine sits on can be a significant factor in how much -- or little -- noise your machine makes. I discovered this when I went out of town with my cpap this year. Suddenly my whisper-quiet S9 sounded like a Boeing 747 when I had it on a nightstand made of particle-board material rather than the solid wood surface I have it on at home. Big difference.

Be careful, you may not get the answer you'd hope to hear......

Adding to what Kiasgram says:
The location of the table can also affect the noise level. If the table touches the bed, that can magnify the noise level.
If your hose winds up touching your spouse's head, that can allow conducted noise directly into the spouse's inner ears and the conducted noise of the machine and your breathing can sound very loud during the quietest parts of the night.

Re: Machine gets too noisy during the night
Prior to my sleep apnea treatment with the machines I could sleep through anything. Since being on the CPAP for a few months I now find the noise bothers me some nights and keeps me from sleeping. Rather than sleeping in foam ear plugs which is what I normally do when there is a noise bothering me, I ended up putting my Cpap machine in the middle drawer of my nightstand. All it took was drilling a 1 1/4 inch hole in the back of the nightstand, and adding a 2 foot extension hose to give me a comfortable length. Now I can't even hear the machine.
