Sleepweaver Elan nasal mask: have you used it? Pros/cons?

Post by ellen1159 » Thu Aug 15, 2013 12:32 pm

The Sleepweaver Elan looks like it could be a comfortable mask for a side sleeper like me, but I'm wondering about leaks. anyone here currently using it? Anyone stop using it?

Hi Ellen... I'm a side sleeper also. I used the Elan for a very brief period of time - just didn't like it. I don't remember having many leaks but I didn't like the cool air all around my nose. Some people really like the Elan tho. You just have to give it a try and see for yourself.

I loved the Elan! It was THE most comfortable mask I've tried for side sleeping. (I routed the hose up tho)

I ordered it from Cpap.com with the insurance. I had no real leaks. I had a "tiny" little breeze out the top but when I laid my head on the pillow it was gone. A comfortable change from nasal pillows for me. However, when I washed mine with mild soap I couldn't get it to seal. I was told I should have used Tide free and I used mild soap. I sent it back under the insurance but I fully intend to get another when I can.
I didn't mind the air in it at all... but I like some humidity.

Cpap.com has it with free insurance I think (maybe no shipping either)
My DME is carrying it now but I have a few months before I can get another mask w/o paying for it.

It may be just me, but it was so worth trying.

If it had clips to take the mask on and off it would still be my #1 favorite. The new FF Sleepweaver does come with the clips. Pulling the mask down on the end of your nose like a clown nose stops the leaks around the eyes. Pulling the mask on and off over your head causes the headgear to wear out too quickly. It needs clips.

I loved it; especially after they came out with the small cushion.
Sadly, my eyes eventually became too sensitive to the airflow over them, and I had to change.
