Noise without the Humidifier?

Post by Lee Lee » Thu Jun 08, 2006 2:10 pm

I took my Resmed Auto Vantage on a trip to Miami. I didn't bring the humidifier part with me. Thought it would be lighter that way, and I don't really use it all that much anyway.
So, all of a sudden, my quiet little machine became really loud! I could hear that winding noise and I could hear myself taking a breath, which was very distracting.
Why would it be louder without the humidifier? Am I hurting my machine by not having it on there?

It will not hurt your machine, not using the humidifier is a little hard on you. Your body isn't built to make up for a increased volume of dry air.

The higher noise is caused by the loss of some restriction, caused when the humidifier in in line. (It acts like a mini muffler) Jim
