Got to agree, made my donation and am very happy with the software.
Would encourage all who get use from sleepyhead software donate what they can.

Feel free to donate whatever you think the software has been worth to you.

Done from me too. Thank you Mark, especially for the recent upgrade that made using my new Respironics apap.

NateS wrote:As many of you know, JediMark, the author of SleepyHead and a member of this forum, is having continuing difficulties with his health, and while we all wish him good luck and better health and happiness, it occurred to me that perhaps many members are not yet aware that this program is donation-ware and financially supported only by users' voluntary contributions to its development. In other words, Mark did all this brilliant work and development without any financial backing, and receives no compensation at all at the moment when users download his program and begin using it, and continue using it.

His software is amazing, and most of us use SleepyHead every day right alongside other programs like ResScan. His Statistics Page, to cite just one example, with Records and Bookmarks quickly presents users with an easily understandable picture of their progress in a manner much more understandable than ResScan does. Yet it doesn't take much imagination to conjecture how much $$$$$ the author(s) of programs like ResScan have been paid for their work by the companies who manufacture and distribute our xPAP machines, compared to the fact that Mark has put his work out there for us on purely an honor system basis, relying on us users to pay what we can, if we can!

To get the ball rolling to try to compensate Mark for his past work, I just went to this page:

http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/s ... evelopment

and re-read this:
Ways to support SleepyHead Development
Donations

Money makes the world go round, and even foggy OpenSource developers like me need coffee/chocolate/food/etc. I certainly don't expect to make a living providing free software, but I currently have health issues that pretty much restrict what I can do elsewhere.

Any support you can give in this way is always appreciated, by both me and my hard-working and loving wife who is currently supporting me.

SleepyHead Donation page at SourceForge (uses PayPal).

If you would prefer to donate using another method, please contact me.
and so I clicked on the PayPal button and made an additional donation towards his past work, and I encourage all others reading this thread, who are able, to do the same. Every bit helps!

Best wishes, Nate
In this my day of reflection and Thanksgiving.. What a year it has been and I am glad it is almost over.

Part of the health success could not have been if not for my computer software to tell me about how my sleeping is going. My sleep study in April this year said I had AHI of 140. I was miserable to say the least.

Reviewing all the bills and all the money I spent on my health this year it is the most in all my life. I could add up all my other 51 years together and they don't come close to what I spent this year.

Its not a big donation, but please be reminded that I am grateful for what you have given this community.
Thank You Mark for the wonderful software!

I'm a new cpap user since October, and I just made a donation, too, because I'm very grateful to have the use of the Sleepyhead software. It has been helpful to me in providing actual nightly data about my treatment to go along with my muddled "middle-of-the-night" insights about leaks and pressures. Thank-you, Mark, for sharing your talents and time with the cpap community.

I saw this thread last week, but was running tight with funds, so I had to wait to donate...not as much as I feel the program is worth, but I don't see any limit on how many donations can be made, so....Thank you, Mark, for helping me be proactive in my own treatment.

I put in a small repeating donation -- a bit less than a couple of large ice teas if eating out. But it will repeat every month for as long as I choose. That way, I can ultimately donate a decent amount to Jedimark's hard work.
