I purchased my most recent machine (PR S1 60 series BiPap Auto model 760) from JamesAllen.
Totally satisfied with the transaction. Everything was exactly as presented.
Paid for it via PayPal on Sunday July 28th...mailed Priority mail the next day and I got the tracking number and it arrived Thursday Aug 1.
BTW...I was the person that James offered to go ahead and ship the machine and wait on payment as he was thinking I was without a machine. Of course I had my 660 so I wasn't desperate but I did appreciate the offer. I had to wait to buy until I had the funds available and had asked him to hold a machine for me.

Jwerley,

Though your post comes across as an attempt at a bullying drive-by shooting, I'll go ahead and respond. Here is the last post I made on this thread, nearly a week ago. So far, no one has seen fit to respond to it. Perhaps you would like to do so?

"Perhaps you could tell me what harassing thing I've posted here? Another poster has suggested that I am evil, take after my dog, insinuating I have lied about purchasing from cpap.com, etc. etc. What have I said? I suggested that James was busy scouring my post history to try to discredit me. Obviously, he threw out the question of whether I currently have insurance as a way to distract the conversation.

I'm not here to harass anyone. I mistakenly read the OP date as July, rather than June, so I responded to papman's post by asking why he was continuing to post his products for sale when he said he would no longer do so. When James pointed out my error, I apologized. Is that your beef?

I personally have no issue with someone selling products. Obviously, marketing said products on this site is a conflict of interest with the business of the owners of the site. James is aware of that and is crying ignorance. Papman continues, despite cpap.com's request and his previous assertions."

Ugh

I worked at a small hometown DME that went out of business when he lost his AmeriGroup/AmeriChoice contract. He offered each employee machines and masks at a discount because he could not get ResMed or Respironics to take them back. He could not sell to any other DME's because they ALL lost their contracts with that insurance and they were afraid of having too much over stock.

First he says he is a nurse that works as an RT, then he says his wife is the RT?????????????????????? If he can't get his story straight on what he does or she does, then do you feel confident enough now to buy from him?????????????

My husband started this thread and thought it would be easy just to list supplies and machines. He did not think that people would have detailed questions that he could not answer. So I (a nurse that works as a RT) took over his account and explained that in the beginning of this thread. I thought it would be stupid to start a whole new account.

Thank you,
Jamie

You are not the only seller I was referring to. And with only 21 posts, 15 are in this topic. Another post is in response to a wanted post. So, 5 posts are not about selling. In 9 months.

Sorry, but if you want to be considered a regular member, actively participating, then you need to actually participate in posts that don't benefit your sales. Otherwise, you just come across as a seller. And like I said, there are others too that I was referring to. It has simply gotten worse lately, and I am tired of seeing our forum overrun with a bunch of people just looking to sell us stuff.
A poster after my own heart! I did the exact same exercise, but decided not to post my conclusions.

Your issue with the volume of sellers using this site for their competitive sales is bothersome and those who do it, for the most part, know that cpap.com has asked them not to do so.

Well, I appreciate that you at least responded. I agreed with another's take on the marketing of products on a competitor's site when said poster knows full well that others have been asked to cease that very action.

When it comes to an attitude seeping through one's words, I'd have to say that is how I read your "Get a life" instruction.

I for one do not know why "others" have been asked to stop selling. I have talked to a few members(well established posters and sellers) they state they have not gotten any notice to quit. I have not received notice to quit. Once my machines are gone I have nothing left to sell. I do appreciate you bumping my thread I can no longer offer free mask with machine because Papman bought all of my mask inventory. I do have bits and pieces, frames, headgear, cushions to several masks. They have never been used but the bags have been opened so I can piece out the mask. Just PM me if you need anything.

As long as I have been a member here there have been occasional posts by members looking to sell a used machine, and once in a while a member selling a new machine at an extremely discounted price. These posts might appear once every 2 or 3 weeks. Discreet. Not exactly under the radar but not daily either.

Recently, several new members have appeared, offering new machines and masks at discounted prices. Some of these new members seem more like dedicated sellers than cpap users who came here for support. New posts daily, lots of merchandise available, continually bumping their own posts to the top.

Some members overreact when they see items for sale because scammers have occasionally burned members in the past. Especially when the post offering something for sale happens to be on the same date as the "member since" date.

Having been around here for a while, and having purchased machines from other members myself, I felt conflicted. Most people know who the forum owners are. Many of us purchase from them on a regular basis, and are grateful to them for providing this forum. Everyone likes a good deal, but few would feel comfortable buying discounted fruit from a truck parked in front of the grocery store.

AS LONG AS the forum owners don't have a problem with it, I don't. But if they did, and they asked someone to stop making posts which advertise items for sale, I expect that person would have to stop.

This is exactly what I was responding to, and papman and somebody else were asked not to post for sale posts anymore. Papman announced: Sorry I have Been Away. I can no longer sell equip on here! and said he would no longer be posting. But then he posted 3 days in a row and then started bumping his own posts.

AFTER that was announced to the list, we have a new sell, JamesAllen who is now Jamie and Somebody. And this person or couple (I still think it is one person who wasn't expecting to be questions on the equipment) is posting even more than papman.

And at the same time, we have a bunch of new people coming to the group, joinging specifically to sell their equipment. And it looks like it is okay because everybody else is doing it.

I have no problem with the regulars, if the posts are limited. But 3 times a week? Twice in one day? And rarely a post actually participating in real topics other than those for their personal gain? Sorry, but that tells me there are here to be a vendor.

Now, I understand, everybody needs to make a living. I am a vendor too with a small business. But I don't go around promoting it in venues, even when the venue may contain possible customers. For example, I participate in several email lists that discuss the events where I will be a vendor. I NEVER announce that I will be vending at the show. Either they already know, or they will learn when I get there. Or they can ask me. Sales ads would not be appropriate, so I don't take advantage of it. A few do, and it continues until somebody complains.

I do agree that people here need options, especially when they don't have insurance. This is why I have suggested several times that there be a website that these sellers could post their equipment for sale. A link could be posted once a week, or a link could be put in a sticky to let new users know. We do need multiple posts a week, from several different sellers so that we end up with several a day.

Maybe this is why the grumpy guy thinks somebody here should donate a bipap machine. Maybe he thinks most of us here are equipment sellers.

I myself have donated some medical equipment to certain forum members here but very discreetly due to the fact that if I announced it publicly, everyone would want something for free. Little does everyone know, a lot of small DME's are closing their doors due to competitive bidding and only the national companies like Apria and Lincare are going to survive. I took it upon my self to call these small mom and pop DME's and offer a certain monetary offer for their stock and they usually accept since they have nothing else to lose. Sometimes negotiations and deals are done over the phone or email, or sometime I need to fly out and make sure the transaction is done in person due to the large amount of money that is involved. I buy all my stuff legitimately at liquidation prices and then I sell a few things here to help those who need it at a wholesale price. Yes, I am making a little bit in profit but not a killing when I do this. This is how Walmart does it, buy in bulk get a good deal and extend the savings to your customer....this is called business and economics, Supply and demand. After I post here and bumping my own post so people can take advantage of the savings before I send my entire stock off to a personal buyer, I am done posting here and I start shopping around the U.S and overseas all over again. You can't be mad at me for being a business man that found an edge on the market but at the same time loves to help people out because I have been in those tough situations myself at one point. Yes I was asked to stop posting for sale items here but then I re-phrased my threads as "760HS New Zero Hour PM me for details". IN the body of my post was my direct email so people can ask questions regarding price and certain other details. There was never the words "FOR SALE" in my heading. How was what I was doing any different than providing a link

I admire what you're doing both from the altruistic perspective and an entrepreneurial one, but my take on it otherwise would be that (maybe unavoidably) are using another seller's (Cpap.com) space to do it... it would be great if you could find a way to access the pool of needy patients without depending on this forum... but please don't take that I'm saying to get lost - not the point of my note. I know many very much appreciate what you're doing. It's a difficult situation.
