Version of Phillips Respironics Encore Viewer for Windows 7?

Post by rocksockdoc » Fri Jul 26, 2013 11:02 am

I bought my Phillips Respironics Encore Viewer version 2.0.23.0 CPAP software in 2011 for $99 when I was on Windows XP but does anyone know if there's an upgrade that works better on Windows 7?
The MD said my tongue is too big for my throat. For $100K, he could move the tongue attachment forward, and then cut both lower mandibles and move them forward and then enlarge the lower mandible. I replied "I'll use the machine, thank you."

Thanks for the help; much appreciated!

It seems, from searching, that the databases are different for Encore Viewer, Encore Basic, and for Encore Pro, so, I'll probably save my existing data to PDF first, before installing.

Does anyone know whether BOTH the older Viewer 2.0 version & newer Basic 2.11 version of Encore can coexist on the same 64-bit Windows 7 laptop?

Viewer, Basic and Pro all offer the same format for their reports. If it didn't tell you which one generated the report you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

The older Viewer didn't offer the waveform graphs for the PR S1 machines...Basic and Pro do/did.
There is a new version of Viewer now for another $99 that supposedly offers waveform but I don't have it to test it for confirmation.
It will install on 64 bit computers though which the old version would not.
None of the above will install on a Windows 8 computer though. There is a way to make Viewer and Basic work on Win 8 computer but not Pro.

I have heard that there is a very latest version of Pro...2.12 that will install on Win 8 but I can't find it as it isn't out there in the area where I can normally find this stuff.

Pro will let you review old waveform graphs.
Basic only offers you the most recent waveform during a download...but there's a way around that too I found out.

Ah, I see, it's complicated, but the net is to use Encore Basic and to just forget about the other two.

Is this (perhaps over simplified) summary "close enough" for government work?
- Viewer ==> didn't offer waveforms
- Basic ==> only the latest waveform
- Pro ==> waveforms for all nights slept (not just the latest)

Yep, that's close enough for government work.

I suspect the wave form limitation in Basic is due to size constraints. It's a massive file and remember that this software is used mostly by DMEs or doctors and they
1....don't normally look at wave form anyway and if they did it would likely be the last one
2....they don't want to use up massive amounts of storage on their computers for files they don't ever look at anyway.

It's easy to get Basic to keep each wave form though...just erase the SD card after the download and the next download will give a wave form graph. I discovered this by accident when using my SD card to get a report from someone else's files that were emailed to me.
SleepyHead also shows the wave form though and it never goes away. It doesn't show it in the same manner but it's there.

Thank you for your help. I apologie for not understanding the method to obtain graphs.
I only look at the reports once a year, or so, when I'm feeling badly in the morning (as I am lately).

Is this the suggested method to see the graph for all days?
0. Sleep tight, all night, and then place the SD card into your laptop
1. Download the previous night's record to Encore Basic
2. Erase the SD card from your computer & put it back in the machine
3. Sleep another night, and repeat step 1,2,3 ad infinitum

Or did I misinterpret and, one can get the graphs for all days, even if they only remove the card once every year or so?
Also, may I ask whether anyone knows if both the old Encore Basic 2.0 and the new Encore Basic 2.11 can co-exist on the same Windows 7 64-bit laptop?

Thanks for all your advice - without you - we'd be dead!

Encore Basic is not that old. It is actually newer than Pro. Basic was just developed last year and Pro has been around forever.
But to answer your questions. Both Basic and Pro can co-exist on one computer quite happily.
They are totally different products and so neither communicates with the other.
I have Pro 2.11 but I rarely every even bother to open it.

Correct....this would give you wave form graphs every day. You don't have to totally erase the SD card if you don't want to but it takes no real effort to erase the contents.
Actually all that has to be done is go into the P0 folder and remove those files but it's just as easy to erase the card.

Give both software programs a try...see which one suits your needs the best.

Actually I was asking about Encore Viewer 2.0 and Encore Basic 2.11 on the same machine (not Encore Basic and Pro). But, anyway, Encore Basic version 2.2 loaded fine and works and is way faster then my old Encore Viewer version 2.0.

I now have both on the same laptop...I changed the destination folder and they have two different names....so they both work and both have all my data up to date...
Pugsy wrote:Give both software programs a try...see which one suits your needs the best.
This new v 2.2 is so much faster - I almost can't believe it!
It also has more graphs on it and more/different options for reports too than the Encore Viewer 2.0 had.
The waveform graphs are cool...sorta like sleepy head graphs, which the old version Viewer 2.0 didn't have.

Thanks for all your help and advice!
You're a life saver!

As you found out....All of the Encore products can co exist on the same computer without any issues.
I have all of them on my computer but I don't bother with Viewer at all...only put it on the computer to figure out a way to make the 32 bit version work on a 64 bit computer.
Pro I have had some version since 2009...and Basic came out last year.
I don't bother with Pro either because it doesn't offer me anything over what Basic offers.
Basic doesn't use the cumbersome problematic SQL Database server thing which is a big plus. Hence the much, much smaller size when compared to Pro.
Install failure rates with Pro was running about 20 % with the ones that I knew about and the install failure rate for Basic I can count on one hand with hundreds of installs.

I keep the other unused Encore products on my computer mainly to offer help if someone has a problem using one of them. I need to be able to see what they are seeing or doing to figure out how to help them. I can't rely on my memory.
