So sorry to hear of your continuing difficulties in your health, and I wish you and we all wish you good luck and better health and happiness.

Your software is amazing, and I use SleepyHead every day right alongside ResScan, especially because your Statistics Page with Records and Bookmarks quickly presents me with an easily understandable picture of my progress in a manner much more understandable than ResScan does.

It is an amazing program! Do not bother yourself about fixes or improvements until such time as you are able and so inclined. Only when you are ready at some future time, and then perhaps your project should be based on a donor program through paypal as you are certainly entitled to fair compensation for your work.***

Dori... I have, but I've never been able to make heads or tails of it. Never made a bit of sense... and just sounds so wrong. If you feel up to explaining it, go for it.

Did you ever do an unasked for favor for a friend or neighbor thinking you were doing something thoughtful and the friend thought you were just interfering or what you did just made things worse,etc,etc. I could go on with many situations that have happened to me but I still get involved wherever I think I can be of help but I hold back if it doesn't feel right. It usually works out fine and is appreciated but there are other times, not so fine. Probably there is a better analogy but I think you get the idea.

One problem with any OSA software is that -- according to my sleep doc, who works with equipment manufacturers -- the accuracy of the sensors in the machinery is questionable. He says that -- in essence -- daily numbers should be taken with a grain of salt, although trends may be significant. Only compliance data is accurate.

I have not been able to find any specs that either back his allegation or are contrary to it. Have you seen any?

Resmed claims their central sleep apnea detection (CSAD) is pretty decent:

A couple of points...they had only twenty subjects and they had AHIs of over 15.
The results section said that polygraphy detected 128 obstructive apneas and 104 as central. The CSAD reported 153 obstructive and 79 centrals. That's about a 20% error. [(153-128)/128]

That's the obstructive side of detection: the CSAD left-over pile. That error rate could be why Resmed decided to name the detection circuit CSAD instead of OSAD...

edit: Resmed might perform additional signal processing beyond CSAD. Flow wave-shape analysis, for instance, would improve obstructive apnea detection compared to CSAD alone. It would improve overall central-apnea detection specificity as well.
