Newbie with questions

Post by Spokojna » Mon Jul 01, 2013 9:48 am

Hi everyone I'm new to this...felt really good first 4-5 months and now not so much....

I have a few questions
Do you leave your machine plugged in all day and night or do you unplug it in the morning?
Does unpluging it affect the data that is stored on the SD card? I'm having trouble with some data no available in both rescan and SH.
Does missing data mean the machine is not working right or that the SD card is currupt. or is that why I'm not feeling as great as I did when I first got the machine?
When do you download your data....in the morning after a sleep or in the evening before a sleep?

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Linda

Leave it plugged in. No need to unplug from the wall, though it's best if it is plugged into a surge protector to protect it from lightning or power surges.

Not sure about the data issue, it sounds like you have an S9. Are you missing whole days of data, as if you didn't use the machine at all?

When both SleepyHead AND ResScan are reporting "no data available" then my first suspect would be that the SD card was either not in the S9 all night or not properly inserted all night. SD card MUST remain in the S9 all night to have access to the detailed data.
SleepyHead needs the detailed data to calculate anything....ResScan can give summary usage without the detailed data but won't give any detailed data graphs if it has been left out of the S9 and then reinserted.

Second suspect would be SD card removal too soon upon turning the machine off in the AM....removing the SD card while the machine is still writing to it will damage the files so that the software can't read them.

Third suspect would be bad SD card...unlikely suspect but not impossible.

There is also of course the remote possibility of the S9 itself not writing the data to the SD card even when SD card is properly inserted.

Exactly which/what data is missing from SleepyHead and/or ResScan?

( rescan )The flow data is missing on some days, and all detail data is missing on other days.
Sometimes the pressure graph shows no pressure even tho there are apneas registered.
one day it shows graphs but no data no pressure, no apneas, no leaks, nothing, blank graphs.

I have swapped the SD card for last night. I leave the machine for several hours before turning it off by the power button in the morning, then I unplug it. I remove the SD card while unplugged and reinsert it while unplugged. I plug it in right before sleep in the evening.

The data seems to be there for Jan to March and seems questionable from April and May, June is all messed up too.

summary data does seem to be intact for all days. How can I tell if the card is inserted right? it says reading SD card when I turn it in I assume its good to go?

yes I have an S9 set to 7 pressure max 20

When you download your data in ResScan, make sure "All available data" shows in the download window that pops up, and the box is checked for High Rate data sessions (or something like that).

That's what I would also assume.

There's no real urgent need to unplug the machine and plug it back in. I used my S9 for over a year and never did that.
Though it shouldn't make any difference as to the status of the detailed data.

For ResScan....confirm that the download is asking for all pertinent data and detailed files. The default download is for summary only. Maybe ResScan forgot and went back to the default summary download...I have had that happen on occasion.
If the SD card is in the machine during the night and you have confirmed that the download was indeed directing for "all detailed data" then maybe a bad file on the SD card....try a new blank SD card. Doesn't have to be name brand...cheap generic SD card will work.

If the SD card is recognized by the S9 and in the machine all night and the next day the download is for sure for "all detailed data" and the detailed data is still missing...then something wrong with the machine writing to the SD card or SD card (that's why I suggest a trial with a new card to make sure).
Most often it is the download directions when ResScan is not showing the detailed graphs...either that or those graphs are turned off in the graphs selection window.
Have you seen the video tutorial for using ResScan? It explains what I am talking about.
http://montfordhouse.com/cpap/resscan_tutorial/ Tutorial

Now if SleepyHead is also showing blank no data then the detailed data files are missing from the SD card and if the SD card was indeed inserted correctly in the S9 all night then I would suspect either the SD card or the S9 writing to the SD card.
SleepyHead needs the detailed data files to pull any data at all to report...there won't even be any summary data available.
Big goose egg for usage even if ResScan is showing summary usage for that night.

If you are dead certain that the SD card was in the machine (and properly recognized) and the download in ResScan is for sure choosing "all available data"...then I would look to a new SD card first and then look to the S9 itself.
SleepyHead should show the detailed data if the SD card was in the machine and if the SD card has those detailed data files.
There is no partial summary download option for it..it's all or nothing with SH download.

Swapped out the SD card and data seems to be there for the last two nights in both SH and ResScan. I'll watch it for the next few weeks before I go back to the clinic. yes I am downloading all available data!!

I notice it didn't make the change to DST, I changed it manually this AM.

So is this true?
Detailed data is only stored for 30 days?
High rate data ( ie flow ) is only stored for 7 days?
if I download the data it is not available for download by my clinician ( i'm being accused of messing with it )?
is it possible to have a night with no events when the other 364 nights there are events?

Linda
