Wisp??
Wisp??
I'm almost 5 months in and still trying to find the mask for me.
Mirage Liberty Hybrid - so, so. Not my fav....nasal pillows leak EXTREMELY easily!! Not great at higher pressure...problems with leaks.
Tap Pap - love the no headgear...very comfortable, pillows do NOT leak. But, I mouth breathe and drool more with this mask and I get a recurring canker sore. Taping and chin strap did not help. Not working for me.
Mirage Quattro FFM - they gave me too big a size. Forget it, I tried all the tips, couldn't stop it from leaking EVERYWHERE. Not sure if it was simply because it was too big or if it was because it didn't fit my face well. I really wanted a FFM mask to work.
True Blue Nasal Mask - they gave me too big a size, but if I had to pick, this would be my fav. For some reason I tend to keep my mouth shut pretty well with this type of mask. I think I want to go with a nasal mask instead of pillows. But, I get bad red marks on the bridge of my nose which stay for DAYS. That is why I am thinking of the Wisp because it is so small. How is it for leaving marks? How about for leaks?
Thanks!

Maybe keep an eye out for the US release of the Swift FX Nano?
It might interest you.
Have you seen it? If the Wisp looks interesting to you then you might be interested in the Nano.

Re: Wisp??
I have been using the Wisp since March or April. It's my primary mask. I have both the silicone and fabric frames. The silicone is slightly heavier, but for me it stays in place better than the fabric. I have a moustache but find that leaks are controllable and I can keep them below 24. I only have marks from the mask when I have tightened it too tight.

Have you tried pad-a-cheek liners? http://padacheek.com/Tigerlily wrote:I'm almost 5 months in and still trying to find the mask for me.

My skin is very sensitive and gets red marks very easily, and I find that the liner helps prevent the red marks for me. Without the pad-a-cheek, I get red marks from the wisp, but with the pad a cheek, I do not get the red marks.

Re: Wisp??
2.5 months now with the Wisp (silicone frame w/PadACheck covers). It srems to be holding up fine.
-Still very comfortable.
- Leaks are well under control except when I' m congested, but that's not the mask's fault.
-No discomfort or red marks.
-Easy to clean.
My AHI has been <5 since day one with the Wisp snd now at 0 since hitting the gym. I am looking for a good ffm as an emergency backup, but I have no plans of moving from my Wisp.

Re: Wisp??
I am a big fan of the Wisp.
I am able to wear the s/m or the petite cushions,
though the petite leaves a dent on top of my nose, and I don't care for that.
I much prefer the silicone frame to the fabric, so my cloth frame has only seen 2 nights use.

Re: Wisp??
We have had good feedback from our patients regarding the Wisp mask. Seems to hold leaks well and we have not had any big issues (that I am aware of) with leaving marks on the nose. Of course, if the patients nose is pretty thin and has a high bridge then it becomes more likely. Another mask that we have used recently with very good results is the Eson mask by F&P - light, holds leaks well and quiet. Patients seem to like.

Re: Wisp??
Funny you should mention the Eson. The P/R rep showed how the design is intended
to allow the cushion to remain seated even when the frame moves from side to side.
Never tried it; but it looks like it might--I just didn't want another mask with a forehead brace.

I have not tried them yet because I haven't found a mask I like enough. But, I plan on it when I find my mask. The problem with my current nasal mask is because it is too large. I went on their website and printed the template and checked my size. Good to know she makes them for the wisp, I was wondering that.

Re: Wisp??
Thanks for your input everyone. I just really, really don't want the marks. Because for me, it's more than a mark. It stays constantly and is sore, unless I use a different mask. And then it may take a week to heal.

Re: Wisp??
The problem with the Nano is that it looks like the headstraps are exactly the same as on the Swift FX, which to me on my head were insecure and always slid loose up from the back. A PadaCheek strap helped somewhat but it was always touch and go for me. The strap arrangement on the Wisp is really secure and stays in place all night with no adjustments.Pugsy wrote:Maybe keep an eye out for the US release of the Swift FX Nano?

My enthusiasm for nasal pillow masks like the Swift, the Swift Bella Loops version and the Aloha eventually waned when I realized that I constantly had to re-set the position of the pillows 3-4 or more times a night, when my leak alarm would go off warning me they had slipped away from my nostrils. But I struggled to stay with them because I thought they were the "minimalist" approach.
But I so far feel like I have hit the jackpot with the Wisp. Even though my nose in partially enclosed, it is really a lot simpler to rely on it staying in place, with no jiggling and readjusting under my nostrils, no angles of entry to fuss with, and the straps never move all night. And the lip around the triangle inflates to form a secure, soft cushy seal.
Regards, Nate

Re: Wisp??
I got a sore on the bridge of my nose when I started using the True Blue, too. I loosened up the straps a little and that fixed it. I was unable to get the Wisp to work for me, I think because I got a nose like Karl Malden.

Re: Wisp??
I finally got my wisp today. I got part of it in April but I finally got the whole thing. I guess I finally jumped through enough hoops. I am tired now. Now I just have to jump till I get my new sleep study that I didn't want in the first place.
