Sorry I've been MIA!

Post by SleepyonMagnoliaSt » Tue Jun 25, 2013 8:46 pm

We've had family stuff and pretty much just life in general is throwing us curve balls. Kid had her sleep study titration a few weeks ago and slept for 7 1/2 hours on the cpap and didn't take it off in her sleep. However, ALL the masks the sleep lab had were too big lol

Her AHI without CPAP is 7.5. With CPAP it's 1.5. So today we went to meet the homecare group and get our machine. Turns out? Insurance flat out paid for it 100%. No renting, no copay or deductibles. It's ours. Daughter tried on all the masks and the best fitting one for her was the Pixie

We came away owning a Respironics Remstar Pro C-flex.

And she's asleep, peacefully, for the first time in her entire life. It took her 35 minutes to fall asleep but she is DEAD to the world

Bless her little heart! These photos are touching. Thanks for posting them, Sleepy. And how are you doing?

I'm exhausted lol. Just totally worn out.

I do have an appointment with the private sleep lab and doctor in July so that's a big +!

She looks so cute there. I am glad she got a mask that fit.

I wish they would make better kid-sized equipment.
What a cutie.

She's been out for 2 1/2 hours so far and besides a minor leak about 15 minutes into it even the thunder storm hasn't phased her

I do too. The respiratory therapist said they don't because CPAP isn't FDA approved for children. Which is stupid imo.

DD wants to draw a mustache on the top of her cpap mask tomorrow. I told her we'd give it a try LOL

I'll post pictures if it works

So I just checked on her and she was at the foot of the bed with the hose almost yanked off the machine. I moved her and she slept through it. No leaks.... but I think I might need to try and get a longer hose?

Rae has been asleep for over 5 hours with her CPAP. She's not flailed, woken up, coughed, choked, snored, or anything. She's slept through 2 thunderstorms moving in!! AMAZING. I love CPAP

Good to see you sleepy! We joined here at almost the same time, and I've been wondering how you and your daughter have been going. Great to see Miss adapting so well to CPAP, if only we could all be like that.

Best of luck with your specialist visits soon.

If you can afford it a longer hose for your daughter might be a wise investment.

Don't you just LOVE it when things work out they way they should?! Your little one is a cutie - and a trooper for handling all this so well. Some of us adults could take a lesson from her adaptability. Hope nights like this become the norm for her.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but by giving you the Pro model, the supplier has denied you the ability to get any information about how well the treatment is working. It can tell the insurance co how many hours the machine was used. Nothing to help you or the docs make adjustments that are often needed. That will now need a guess or an expensive sleep study.
