CIA and Sleep apnea?

Post by KsUp » Sat Jun 22, 2013 7:24 pm

Employment around CIA, could it be restricted due to sleep apnea? I know the military disqualifies for sleep apnea but I would think there would be some sort of job available around CIA. I'm also 18.

Get degrees in law, forensics and software security and make yourself indispensable in the office. But don't expect to go out under cover.

I am already working on this not specifically those though I was just wondering if it is possible? And why can't I expect that? do you have a background on CIA? Family history or anything of CIA?

If you do I wish you could give me helpful information instead of telling me detail what to do and what I can't do

Why on earth are you wondering about it actually? Do you think that Snowden might have apnea ? Seems like an odd thing to wonder about if you're not really interested in going into it.

Plain logic. Someone who must be hooked up to power every night and carry his cpap machine is not going to be as flexible to move around.

Do you have Sleep Apnea and why do you think that the CIA would ask you about it if you applied for a job there? If yes, then Sleep Disorders (including Obstructive Sleep Apnea) are diseases like many other diseases which limit sleep, and if not treated, could cause daytime sleepiness and drowsiness. In your opinion, what jobs could they fulfill successfully there? I don't know.

KsUp,

Welcome to CPAPtalk.

We are free people. We do our own thinking. We use this freedom to take responsibility for ourselves, our knowledge and our health. We respect individuals and their privacy.

This could explain your frustration at our answers. We're less about gaming the system to get our CIA field ops cert and more about getting a healthy night sleep based on a positive feedback loop.

If you'd like to learn more about freedom, or why it is a good idea, you can read about a group of men who risked everything they had to give us a chance at it here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constituti ... ed_States)

Should you join the CIA, feel free to pass that link around. I think we'd all be better off if it was taken to heart.

Johnny

The military no longer disqualifies for sleep apnea.

I'm questioning this logic. The battery backup for a CPAP is pretty small, and why would you think that CIA agents have to move around a lot? Some field agents who are in deep cover stay in the same place for a long time.

The CIA do a lot if "investigating" as do other police services, etc.......... If you are "asking" a group of sleep apnea patients instead of doing your own "investigating", then you will not do well as a CIA operative. If you are interested in that field of work as a career, then investigate the possibilities and requirements on your own.
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

A better answer than mine.

Besides, if any of us were, hypothetically, CIA agents under cover, we couldn't tell you.

I guess you and I have very different conceptions of what a CIA agent actually does.

Sleep Apnea shouldn't be a problem for a CIA operative, requisition a watch from MI-6 w/laser cutter and use the battery to run your xpap, it should last at least a week. "Q", could probably build the xpap into the watch, just sleep with your watch under your nose, no hose needed. Jim
