RESmart™ Auto CPAP Machine with RESlex with Heated Humidifie
RESmart™ Auto CPAP Machine with RESlex with Heated Humidifie
Anyone here using one of these machines? I am thinking about it as a travel machine. However I am pretty impressed with the new Resmed Climateline Max with O2 inlet. I am having some major surgery later this year and will need the O2 inlet post-op.
Maybe I should just get a second S9 Autoset and call it a day! lol

Haven't heard of it myself.
But it seems like 3B (the manufacturer) has crossed a line by using
names starting with "RES".

Re: RESmart™ Auto CPAP Machine with RESlex with Heated Humidifie
Don't know anyone here using it. Couple of people on the apneaboard mentioned it a while back because they were wanting software and there was none as the machine they spoke as to having doesn't do much except hours of use.
Since newbies they wouldn't have anything to compare it to anyway. So their opinion wouldn't hold much weight.
Personally...stick with what you have and are used to.
Or get one of the other machines that are well known.

ResMed would have a tough time going after them for trademarks for that, given RESpironics' existence. But maybe they can argue RESMart is too close to RESMed.jdm2857 wrote:Haven't heard of it myself.

Or just sue them for patent infringement.
Re: RESmart™ Auto CPAP Machine with RESlex with Heated Humidifie
Respironics doesn't have any product names that start with "RES". They stick "RemStar" on everything
with a power cord, and "Life" on many masks, but no "RES".
And, as it happens, ResMed does have a patent infringement lawsuit against 3B. But that's a different issue.

I wouldn't buy anything of any company that couldn't even come up with a orgional name without having to copy. I don't do clones, or bricksoreven Resmed's. Jim

Well it is good to see diving into the shallow end of the pool of ignorance is not just limited to other fora.
A quick google search will give you plenty of information on the BMC/3B machines. Both APAP and CPAP.
They are not as is contended here "bricks" in fact quite the contrary. Data collection is via a data cable and proprietary software. There is very detailed data available to track trends and daily data with either bar or line graphs and a constant running list of maximum and minimum data points for ahi, leak, snore, flow and pressure.
As for originality of naming - perhaps all manufacturers are guilty of the same thing or all manufacturers are simply using the first 3 letters of the human action of breathing.
RES-piration.
The machine is certainly cheaper here in Australia. It seems well made and has lowered my AHI from 44 to under 2. I have both a BMC APAP and an S9 Autoset AHI is the same with both machines.
Each machine has its pluses. The BMC APAP is not a brick and that point alone needs correcting because many people visit these fora for information.

It's also good to see no lack of rudeness among newcomers.
I happen to have done a quick google search on the RESmart machine. I quickly lost
interest, however, when I realized that a relative newcomer to the field was trying to
trade on the name of a leader in the field.
"res" is the first three letters of "respiration"? Never occurred to me. I'm still trying to
figure out where the "lex" in "RESlex" comes from. Perhaps Lexington Ave, Manhattan?
As for all manufacturers using "RES", I can't think of another instance of "RES"
being used to prefix another word. At least not amongst Respironics, DeVilbiss
and Fisher and Paykel names. Maybe the town of Reston, VA. And no, I didn't do a
quick google search for that.
And surely you can't take umbrage at my use of the term "ResBrick". Since you believe
that the prefix "RES" is universal, you must understand that the term refers to every
xPAP out there.
Good luck with your therapy.
If anyone is interested I did find a link to what appears to be software for the RESmart Auto.
I haven't downloaded it, so I can't be sure what it is.

The Res, refers to knocking off Resmed, not to leave a good thing go theyjdm2857 wrote:It's also good to see no lack of rudeness among newcomers.

knocked the lex from cflex Remstar. Their were a few machines left but their market share wasn't worth stealing, and would have made the confusion factor higher. Jim

I received a RESmart auto a few days ago …
I won't stop breathing in my sleep anytime soon ! the machine is SO NOISY I won't be sleeping any time soon either …. I am new to this as I was diagnosed end of last year but had a loan unit for 4 weeks and that one was really quiet …
very disappointing

Re: RESmart™ Auto CPAP Machine with RESlex with Heated Humidifie
Had this machine for two days and returned it. Way too noisy! Last one was purchased in 2006, but was so much quieter. Now I am in search for a new one.
