About the new Quattro AIR, I don't know. It seems to me that either Resmed designers are idiots or they think that we, the customers, are stupid. Why there are no snaps on the headgear straps like the regular Quattro has?
Regardless, the basic physics stays that the longer the linear length of a seal, the higher the leak from it. Nasal pillows have the shortest seal length. Next, come the traditional nasal masks, etc.
1. Not necessarily -- unlike nasal pillows, nasal masks and FF masks only have to contend with, basically, facial oils and perhaps a little sweat, not moisture and mucus from the nose lubricating and breaking the seals as occurs with nasal pillow masks. What's wrong with your face you cant adjust a standard mask to fit?
2. ResMed is just switching to the hook and strap loop fastener system like Fisher Paykel has used for years. It's still a quick release system and likely easy to adjust to once used. Plus, fewer parts to break and less bulky. Will it work as well? That's a good question which remains to be seen.

I'm new to this and have only ever used the one mask, I was surprised how comfortable it is, I sometimes wake up & think Ive taken it off! It's a new model of mask - Resmed Swift FX Nano (nasal mask, not pillows). I tape as well, just one strip vertically to prompt me to keep my mouth shut. After having to rip the (medical paper) tape off my lips the first time though, I recommend putting a small piece of tape on the sticky side, to 'unstick' where your lips will go! I find the tape on the skin above and below the lips is enough to keep my mouth closed. The chin straps look too heavy duty for me, but taping isnt for everyone so go with whatever works for you.
Good luck, I hope you find success with a mask soon!

1)
What's wrong with your face you cant adjust a standard mask to fit? If you are using a "standard mask" yourself then please show leak data that it seals well. Otherwise, it's just words, words, and more words.
2) Fisher & Paykel's full face masks are lousy. Why should Resmed copy them? F&P cushions don't have the double silicon flaps as the Resmed's do to achieve a good seal. It's much superior technology. Same goes to F&P hooks for the headgear. First they break b/c the are made with cheap material and bad design, second, to unhitch from them you need to first pull the headgear forward, which leaves marks on your skin.

You are intitled to your opinion but this just your opinion. Everyones face is differrent. That doesn't mean there is anything wrong with your face if you are having problems getting a mask to fit properly. I have seen lots of different FP masks and I have never seen one of inferior quality. This is just my opinion also.
