Implying that this is a "well-designed study"?

Bovine feces!!

Unless The Turd can produce some additional methodology relating to that study (including comfort modalities, caretaker support, machine type, etc.) this is worthless!!

As I said in another thread about this study:

A study like this one, done completely in the State of Israel, may be interesting, but there are all sorts of challenges there with respect to the availability and cost of electricity, attitudes towards medicine, civilian transportation, military and security issues, percentage of population in military service, etc. which are not necessarily comparable to the US.

Do you have a comparable study performed in the US?

I am not the only one who believes that less than 50% can effectively use CPAP. From another: “Despite the documented efficacy of CPAP, many—perhaps most—patients have difficulty adhering. It is estimated that over 50% of those started on CPAP will not be using it one year later (See: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3612462/ )”.

What contribution are you willing to make to the efforts to improve compliance, Todzo?

Tell us what you will do to help.

Thank you.

Why could he not get to sleep the first four hours? Just new to the hurricane blowing in his face? Mask hurt him? Mask leaking? ?? What did the "professionals" who set him up, do to help him transition to this do for him?

Think back to your first month on xpap ... Lots of newbies have a tough first month ...
Putting people on the road with a brand new xPAP machine sounds like great way to make an accident happen!!!!!!

What are they thinking!!!

I think that if you are truly determined to have sleep apnea you need to be off of the road until you find working treatment.

For those whose job is at stake I suppose we should require that two tests be used. The tests are unreliable and “first night effect” is well documented.

We also need to confirm that the therapy is constantly monitored, for everyone’s sake!!!

Why would you repeat something that is pure fantasy, written by someone who innocently made an erroneous assumption without first reading what Trudger actually admitted to?

He changed that part of his story when he re-created here on cpaptalk. If you go back and read the original version he wrote on the truck drivers' site, if it is still there as originally written, you will find that he admitted to running the machine during his awake hours, with no intention of trying to sleep with it on.

Regards, Nate
You, Todzo, well know that this completely contradicts what Trudger wrote on the truckers' website (later reproduced above) and what Trudger came here and wrote afterwards, where he admitted that he refused to even try to wear the mask and use the machine while sleeping!!

123.Shawn may not have known what Trudger admitted to on the truckers' website and later even here, but you, Todzo know!

I would think that if someone wanted to advance their argument, they would want to scrupulously avoid blatant dishonesty!

This is shameful!

Nate

If they really are putting people on the road with big rigs with unproven CPAP therapy - THAT - is dangerous.

Again Todzo, let this discussion go. As I have previously mentioned, you made your point and it is time to stop.

Molette, please refrain from the name calling. Thanks!

Perhaps this is one of those rare times that a thread should be locked?

WOW! Has this thread kept goinggggggggg ....

Just to clarify when I made the statement which was just quoted yesterday ... I did not know that Trudger had REFUSED to use the machine, I later learned that!

-----------------------

As you must all know I am a truck driver, I was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea with a AHI of 9.

I am honestly trying to make this therapy work!

When I was diagnosed with SA last year, I was actually EXCITED! Finely after suffering from waking up tired, and struggling through each day for over 17 years ... All I had to do was hook up a machine and put on a mask and I'd have my life back!

I sure am disappointed! Here are some stats ...

Last 7 days avg ahi 7.54
Last 30 days avg ahi 6.25
Since I started using APAP (314 days ago) avg ahi 7.81

While following the sleep centers recommended presure avg ahi 10.84 which the dr prescribed.

After using the machine for all 314 day (100% useage)

I have a compliance rate of 95.5% due to some days where I had less than the required four hours! Usually due to pulling all nighter's as I wrote about earlier!

I'm trying ... but I see NO IMPROVEMENT since starting APAP therapy. What am I supposed to do? Quit my job, and take my wife and go live under a bush out in the desert? My next Dr's appt is two weeks from today ... I hope my co can get me home for it!

How many non-truckers suffer from either untreated SA, or like me who is on the hose but sees no benefit, and still drive to work? Or are LEO's or construction workers? Do we take their job or license away?

It is quite apparent that we cannot trust xPAP to do the job of keeping us safe!!!

The more I think about this I believe the answer is to test all truckers for OSA and those who have it – require them to use full time automated vigilance monitoring (and make this available for any who would use it as well). At least they and we would know when they need to take a break. I do believe this would make us safer.

I voluntarily stopped driving.

We do need to look real risk in the eye and respond responsibly.

Have a great week!

There are many here I have not had the time to get back to.

I am suspicious that in many ways it already is locked.

That is because you are locked into a one note refrain.
