I wake up once or twice a night because I have three little kids but if I were left alone I would sleep through the night:) you can see my equipment down below. I sleep on my back or my side. Before CPAP I probably got up once or twice a night to use the bathroom or tend to the kids. The difference is I was a zombie during the day back then and I'm much more rested now and never have that weird zombie feeling any more unless I'm completely
Stuffed up and have to go without CPAP for a night.

I sleep on my side but would like to sleep on my back LOL. I have more events when I'm on my back.

I typically wake up once per night to use the restroom but I drink quite a bit at night. There are many night since starting Bipap that I have slept 7-8 hours straight without waking.

I had an AHI of around 90 IIRC, and have been on an A-Pap for going on 9 months. At first I didn't sleep through the night, waking up around 5:30 or 6 AM to go pee. But I thought that was a huge improvement over the 3 to 5 times a night that I was waking up before. Plus I immediately lost that zombie feeling during the day, which had gone on for so long that I assumed it was normal, so I was absolutely delighted with feeling better. I didn't let the night time wake-ups bother me, figuring how I felt during the day was what mattered. Gradually I've started having more nights when I don't wake up at all, but it still happens. I also seem to need less sleep than I did before. About 6 to 7 hours, it seems. Still don't have any dreams, though. I work a typical 40 hour week, except some weeks I work longer hours. Sometimes job stress causes me to toss and turn at night, and I'll have a terrible night and I'll feel rotten (crabby and bitter, and have a headache) all day. But that's the job, and not OSA.

I also have pain in my hip joints which gets worse when sleeping on my side. I was flabbergasted to discover that this is alleviated by sleeping on a soft bed! I bought one of those memory foam toppers for my mattress, and it made a world of difference. Those toppers do flatten over time, but I'm a believer now, so I'm saving my pennies for a new, soft mattress. This week I'm in a hotel with a very nice soft mattress, and it's been a treat for my hip joints.

I sleep 7.5 hours/night and never awaken.
I sleep on my back using a bed wedge to elevate the head and a leg wedge to raise the feet.
I had a terrible time choosing a mask, but finally landed on the Swift LT. I now sleep all the way through the night and do not awaken.

Mattresses ought to be sold in modules, forget the box "spring"--in most cases it's just a rigid box,
but the base of the mattress should be made to support weight ranges, as heavier people need firmer support,
but light people feel like they are sleeping on concrete. The topper would be detachable,
and would come in several densities and thicknesses to suit one's comfort. You would only need to replace
whichever part wore out first, instead of buying the whole, over-priced, poorly designed thing.

I have slept absolutely dreadfully for the last 5 years i have been prescribed Carbamazapine for bipolar disorder and this medication as allowed me to tolerate my cpap machine i have been unable to use the cpap machine effectively due to the very fragmented sleep i was having i was waking at least every 30-45 minutes and i was completely shattered.

Now i sleep at the very minimum 5 hours i sleep on my side and i wear the cpap all the time which is a first for me, i do feel better but i wished i felt much better

Once I acclimated to cpap I fell into the pattern of first and second sleep. First sleep lasts about four hours. When I wake up I write down dreams on my iPad or wonder about the Internet on my iPad. I set the iPad to the least brightness before bed. The awake time is one to two hours. This is a source of frustration because I still work full time and need to be up and functional early. I don't mind waking up for a while but I don't want a long gap in the night. Sometimes I enjoy my musings in the night but too often I have to end second sleep with an abrupt alarm. Most unpleasant.

What settings do you use on the S9 and PR? Do you feel a difference? And why do you alternate? Lots of questions!

"Sleep through the night" is almost as foreign a concept to me as "wake up refreshed". If I slept through the night AND woke up refreshed, I would know with 100% certainty that I was dreaming.

Except for several bouts with the flu, I went several DECADES without sleeping through the entire night. Since March 3 when I started with my CPAP Quattro FX, almost every single night has resulted in 6-8 straight hours of rest. Nights of complete and sustained sleep were as uncommon as days when I didn't crave a nap. That has also been reversed in the last 85 days.

God bless and good luck!

Don't think I have slept through the night without ever waking up in my entire 68 years. Maybe I did in my teens and early 20 but if so I've forgotten. I just started CPAP and so far it has reduced the time I have to get up at night from three to two. But I definitely can tell that I'm getting more real rest now and feel better all day long, even on "bad" nights.

The first night I put my cpap mask on was the first time in years that I slept through the night. No more bathroom trips in the dark with the risk of breaking another bone.

The only reason I wake up now is because I am trying to turn over and the cat and dog won't move.

I think there's a difference between a night of light intermittent sleep and a few wakeups between blocks of good sleep. Which are you having trouble with?
I agree with you completely about those "blocks" of sleep. It's a matter of sleep efficiency, something I'm working on.
