Humidifier refill system
I figured out a way to refill my humidifier without having to pull the container out of the unit. I have some wire shelving above my bed where I place a gallon jug of distilled water. I run a latex tube weighted with a barbed 1/4 inch tube fitting from the bottom of the jug. The tube hangs down to the top of my humidifier. I found a 7/8th's drill bit fits the mask hose outlet tube pretty well so I drilled out the inside of a 3/4 in. pvc fitting that has a screw-in feature on one end. The drilled out part fits on the outlet and a screw in pipe piece fits the mask hose. Into the side of the fitting, I drilled and tapped for a 1/8th nylon tube fitting with an 1/4 inch barbed end. I hook this all together with a tube clamp and start a syphon. Open the tube clamp until the water reaches the line in the container, snap the clamp shut to turn it off. I think a similar system could be improvised using a hobby store fountain water pump and a battery with an on-off button switch.

Re: Humidifier refill system
This is so funny to me. Only a man would work so hard to keep from picking up a jug and pouring water in the tank. I know you had to work really hard to make this and I am sure a lot of men will love your idea.

Next step would be to rig the unit with an auto-fill float system. Mine runs out of water in < 4 hours on a setting of 2. Refilling in the middle of the night is.........well.............doesn't usually happen. Thanks for the idea. This may start something really keen.

Re: Humidifier refill system
I was putting the distilled water into a smaller jug, but this just might work.
Maybe run a tube from a rooftop cistern?

Re: Humidifier refill system
Very interesting. My belief is that a majority of the contaminants that people see in tanks are introduced in the process of removing the tank and refilling it. I can see this based on where I grab the tank when removing it from the H5i.
If anyone needs an extra lid for a PRS1 humidifier for testing purposes. I have a few series 50 tops I would give away.
