This is not be a good idea. Boeing's recent experiance might indicate that airplanes tend batteries toward catching on fire (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_787 ... y_problems ). Fuses are a safety device to prevent fires.

For some silly reason a vison of Cosmo setting up a little wind generator on the airplane wing came to mind .. . .Drowsy Dancer wrote:All the more reason to use the airplane's power source.

You need to keep in mind that at-seat power availability is never ever guaranteed by a carrier, and since its not an airworthiness issue, airlines do fly with aircraft with faulty the at-seat power units.Drowsy Dancer wrote:The times I've used CPAP inflight so far I've used the airplane's power supply not a battery.

This official kit would have fixed it also. Paperclip in place of fuse. Brilliant!

I have had my VPAP for 2 years now and I always take it with me when I travel. I also have a battery backup. however when I am on the plane i never use it. I never sleep well on a plane and besides that I dont want everyone looking at me. I always travel economy so there is not much room anyway.Anyone the same?

And so should any auto parts store ... A lot of the older cars used those glass fuses, my 12vdc cord is rated for 5 amps, and has one of those in it ... I made mine from Radio Shack ...
My PR S1 has the ability to draw 5 amps at 12v DC ... May be why yours blew the 3 amp ... Of course I do not know what size wires you have ... So that may be a factor ...
