Need Help finding a SMALL MASK!!!!!!

Post by CPAP101 » Tue Apr 02, 2013 8:04 am

Hey guys,
I have been working with a patient for the past couple of weeks, she has one of smallest noses I've ever seen. Here is the issue, I've tried all petite mask. F&P 406, Comfort gel Petite, Micro small and even the activa small. She still is having a high leak. Any advice. I really want her to get a good nights sleep. I've thought of using the Remzzz'sbut need to know if anyone knows of mask. I've even tried the new PPIXIEfor kids mask made by Resmed but guess what, its too small.

What about the new Wisp from Respironics?
I take it she doesn't like nasal pillows?

Some of the pediatric masks offer different size cushions and/or intended for different age ranges. May be good focus area to explore. Since Pixi that you tried was for age 2 and older my next attempt would be the Kidsta.

MiniMe Nasal Mask by SleepNet (age 2 - 12 3 sizes headgear)
Sopora Pediatric Nasal CPAP Mask by AG Industries (Petite and XS)
Mirage Kidsta™ Nasal CPAP Mask (Age 7 and older)

This a place where the 3-D image bank would come in handy. A computer program could compare 3D images of masks,
to find the one(s) closest in size and shape to the 3D image of a given face. A lot like the fingerprint search on TV shows.
You would still have to try a mask on with pressure; but this would save so much time and money;
and possibly save no small number of lives, since not everyone has the patience or money to try 20+ different masks (as I had to)

I had a difficult time finding a mask to fit because of my very petite face and nose. I couldn't try the pediatric nasal masks because of my repaired cleft lip and palate; and there is not a small enough ffm. I adjusted well to the Respironics fitlife, that might be an option for your patient. The leaks are very minimal, also.
