New Wisp nasal mask in stock at cpap.com

Post by Pugsy » Mon Apr 01, 2013 12:27 pm

I got an email notice that the new Respironics nasal mask called the Wisp is now in stock at CPAP.com.
$99 and return insurance is low $13.80 (always lower at first till any returns start driving insurance costs up).

https://www.cpap.com/productpage/wisp-n ... ck-pr.html

A few forum members have used this mask and like it and some don't. Pretty much like all masks out there.
So if you were waiting to get it from cpap.com it's now available.

I won't be trying this one myself. Over the nose masks don't interest me because the least little pressure on my nose causes immediate congestion. So I am not interested enough in this one to fork over any money for it.

That's some pretty intense headgear on that mask -- seems like an overkill.

Yeah, it does to me too. You should look at the Respironics Optilife ...now that one really has some intense headgear with the addition of the chin strap which is only for mask stability and not to keep the mouth shut.
Both of these have way too much "stuff" to suit me.

I look at it differently - the backstrap on my Aloha and the backstrap on my Swift FX were always riding up, causing the nasal pillows to slip out of position unless I somehow otherwise secured them.

The design of the headgear on the Wisp seems to secure the straps in place by encircling the top/back of the sphere of the head so as to prevent slippage, sort of reminiscent of the way the Ruby chinstrap is designed, but without squeezing the head. At least that's my hope.

Regards, Nate

I just checked...2 of the clear and 5 of the cloth were still available...you have to select either the clear or the fabric to get number in stock.

I thought the newest shipments from Respironics were including both the cloth and the silicone in the package because of the problems with the cloth tearing at the clips?!

I don't know about that at all.
Would have to check with Respironics I suppose.
I forget who it was that mentioned that little bit of information. A patient who said that their DME told them that or a patient who got both?????

That is it exactly! and its not overkill in any way and provides great support for the mask. I know as I use this mask now as my primary and have been for a month now.

That was me and that is what I was told by my DME when I bought mine, I was given 2 extra headgears in separate form fitted sealed packaging (1 fabric & 1 silicone) in addition to the one fabric headgear which comes with the mask. I also mentioned that it was probably a limited time offer until they worked out the fabric headgear issue.

Now it would not surprize me that some unscrupulous DMEs hold back the extras to either give to those who have issues or to sell for extra $$$. When purchasing this mask I would insist on getting both the fabric & silicone headgears and tell your DME that you are aware of the fabric headgear issues and that you want both in case of failure as you don't want to be without a mask even for a night.

Well, I got an email saying they won't be sending mine out until April 8th!
Go figure! For waiting, I think I ought to get free return insurance!

I just received the same email about the 8th. I place my order first thing yesterday morning and paid for overnight shipping in hopes I would have it for tonight.

I would like to order but don't know which headgear to choose. Is the fabric soft like the fabric on the Sleepweaver elan? I like the elan's headgear most to the time.
I also have used a night guard for twelve years.
