When should I be getting the results from my sleep test

Post by johnthomasmacdonald » Mon Apr 01, 2013 10:21 am

It's been two weeks since i did the overnight sleep test and I haven't heard anything from them. When I called today they said that they still aren't done. No follow-up appointment with the sleep doctor or a titration study has been set. They say not to worry since they will be sending the results to my GP. My GP knows far less about sleep apnea than i do, which he admits.

I think it varies. When I had my sleep study, my dr had the report within a couple of days and I went in to see him the day after that.

Two weeks is plenty long enough...someone needs a fire lit under their behind.
Either doctor is taking too long to dictate or dictation is taking too long to get done and copy sent.

It took a month from when I had my sleep study to get my appt. to get the machine. I know it took 3 weeks for them to get the test results to my doctor. They were very responsive to get me in for the sleep study and to get the machine to me but drug their feet when $$$ was not involved.

Mine took 3 weeks to get the results to my family doctor. My AHI was 131, so everything was approved quickly with the insurance company after that..

Right after my sleep study, they scheduled me for an appointment to go over the results. Unfortunately, that appointment wasn't until 4 weeks later

I already had my follow up with the sleep doc scheduled for two weeks after the study. He had the results at that time. Two weeks is plenty of time.

I never did get the actual results of my sleep test. After the first test, I was told to come back in a week for a titration test, then they set me up with my APAP.

After seeing others post here about their results I called and asked for my "numbers," and received a call back a couple days later with a summary of my results.

I didn't wait for them to call me. The day I finished my sleep test I called and scheduled the follow up. Asked them when they should have results, they said a week, I said fine, give me an appt a week from today. They did, but said if they didn't have results they would have to reschedule. I told them I expected to keep this one, could they make sure they had the results in time.

If I hadn't taken control, they would have called me when the results arrived and then it would have been another week or more before they could get me in.

speak of the devil - they called today ( a receptionist who knew nothing) to schedule a meeting with the sleep doctor on April 10 - mostly likely they'll set up a titration study then - i tried to get them to do that without this appointment but they won't - i guess they lose a billable hour - i have to drive an hour and half to get there and then probably wait another 2 weeks for the titration study

My study was done on the night of January 17 (a Thursday). There are two sleep doctors at the large, wonderful hospital here in New Lenox (Illinois) but one was on vacation at the time. I received a phone call the middle of the next week informing me I was qualified for CPAP. When the second doc got back to town I made an appointment and quickly saw him. On Monday February 4 received all my gear and have been sleeping better ever since.
