I would expect untreated apnea to weaken your immune system, just because it harms your body and weakens you in general. Plus reduces the quality of your sleep.

I haven't heard of any peer reviewed studies. For that matter, I'm not sure there are peer reviewed studies showing poor sleep or not enough sleep weakens the immune system.

I did a search, couldn't find anything - will probably try the net, next.

I have a cold AGAIN. I had a nasty stomach virus a couple of weeks ago. . I had another cold a couple weeks before that. To say I'm getting a little frustrated is putting it mildly.

I don't think it's my cpap machine - I think it's my immune system. I'm just not fighting anything off. My husband works at a University, and my church has lots and lots of children ( <3 ) - so there's more than enough opportunity to pick something up.

I just finished fighting a battle with my AHI, I'm still not getting enough deep sleep (last night was 13 whole minutes) - but the apnea index is currently down below 1.0 - and has been for the last few days. I've been exhausted - yesterday was the first day I was actually awake and not sitting in a stupor at 3pm.

So. . . read up on compromised immune systems and make some changes?

Have you noticed a correlation between not doing well apnea wise and getting sick?
Untreated Sleep Apnea would, it also kills, even more serious. Well treated Apnea makes you healther. A lot can be said for Vit C & Zinc OTC, I take 2, 000 to 3, 000 unit a day of C, life is good Jim

The "price for posting that information is to tell us your husband's secret recipe. You can't keep us all in suspense! I heard that it had to be "grandma's" recipe - a real chicken (almost complete), and lots of the right vegetables.
After too many good results I just cannot throw away chicken bones. Table to freezer - until - fill the crock pot .. into the pot and in goes the boiling water first on high and then to a low simmer for about eight hours. I really do not care about how clear it is, indeed I want what is in that cloudiness so trough a strainer it goes for the taking of the "first stock".

Whats left is processed for the “second stock”. Meat to soup (or pot pie), fleshy stuff on a cookie sheet (with sides) in the oven at 350 turning every ten to twenty minutes until all golden brown. Bones are split and marrow examined. If all a nice pink color into the crock pot again direct. If any black brown or especially green spots exist onto the cookie sheet with the fleshy stuff for the high heat. Water to cover, add 2 to 4 oz of vinegar (supposed to grab more calcium from the bones) – on high for at least four hours and then reduce to medium or low for another eight to sixteen hours. I tend to crush the bones as I go. “Second stock” works well with beans (tends to be lower salt so the cooking goes better).

Both stocks will gel in the refrigerator. They contain what is in between the bones so I guess you have the raw materials to help the joints. They contain some of what is in the marrow – which is where all replacement cells start. Many good things to help us heal.

We probably would not want to know how commercial soup stock is made.

Enjoy good food!

Nope. Absolutely do not want to know about commercial soup. My ex husband's family were (old day) chicken farmers. . . .and that was enough info to last me a life time concerning those poor birds.

My son is in school to become a chef - I bet he and I can take this and really make a lot of good out of it. I don't eat canned chicken anything - I just don't like the taste of it. . .too processed and salty.

A batch of chicken soup is about to be made. Yep.

ok, hubby is working today - so he can't make me his chicken soup. . . so I decided to go in and give my hand at it. . .

but I have a slight brain problem in the issue: I'm always trying to FIX things. *gah!*

So. . .I put together the most amazing 'cure-all' chicken soup in the world . . .because I FIXED IT! (What do they say about fixin' somethin' that ain't broke?!)

And in all my pride and glory, I called my hubby into the kitchen and asked him to taste the broth.

He did.

And said he'd never do THAT again!!

Ok. . .

So, next batch I'll try to make a few adjustments so that it' goes down right.

Or I'll get his recipe. .. so that I don't kill us all.

Heh.

Brain. Yep. It proves to be an issue sometimes.
